Topshop’s ‘dress up’ collection – My picks.

April 15th, 2011

Topshop have launched a fabulous new collection of dresses for every occasion. Called the ‘Dress Up’ collection,  it answers the question of why you shouldn’t dress down when you could be dressing up. From full on sparkle and glitz, to vintage prints and Luella-esque sweetheart necklines, this is a collection that can take you from summer days to Christmas parties. There are Kate Moss style gold sequins that could add the sparkle to Glastonbury, David Bowie lightning strikes for glam rock starlets, pretty lace and floral frocks that would be perfect for Alexa Chung, and, my personal favourite, a stunning, multi-coloured dress called ‘Fairground’ that would look fabulous on Katy Perry, who could wear it as she sings ‘Firework’.

‘Our new ‘Dress Up’ range is all about having fun, getting ready to go out and preparing to wow!  The dresses demand attention and are not for shrinking violets, Whether it’s rocking a tutu corset dress with heavy biker boots and a tee underneath or mixing a leather studded body con dress with killer heels and a fierce-looking clutch, ‘Dress Up’ brings out individual style with attitude….have fun and get attention.’ Jacqui Markham, Joint head of Topshop design.

Here are my picks of the collection.

This dress reminds me one Alexa Chung wore at the Elle style awards. A Minnie Mouse kind of dress, add fierce shoe-boots to channel Alexa’s eclectic British style ethic.

Nude shades are still a big news story, and this dress is a dreamy vanilla beauty that is made for Emma Watson. Could be worn with cute gold pumps for a more laid back look.

Totally rocking that glam rock vibe with its lightning strike, I can see punk princess Alice Dellal wearing this. Just add David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane make-up!

Wow! Wear now, or keep it for New Years Eve, this is one seriously glamorous dress. I would love to see Kate Moss wearing this with Doc Marten boots and a distressed biker jacket, shining in the Glastonbury mud!

Your prettiest Summer dress, this Luella style floral number will be the pick of cool girls during wedding season.

The absolute show stopper – an art deco inspired piece called Fairground. I am totally in love with this dress which is made for Katy Perry. Absolutely beautiful!

Topshop Dress up collection is available in stores and online at topshop.com.

Where have you accessed the dresses that aren’t yet online? I fell in love with one in the advert which I can’t find on the main bit. I haven’t seen some of these either!
    Thanks !

Nice to see Topshop doing pretty dresses again which I am totally a sucker for. Topshop is uber cool now but I remember the romantic pretty frocks they did in the late 90’s. So loving this collection.
