Pippa Middleton is the style star we most want to be

According to a poll by MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk , Pippa Middleton has the style we would most like to steal.  Taking the crown from poor Cheryl Cole (who seems to be loosing everything these days!), the Pippa effect has seen Kate’s little sister go from little known girl about town to a style icon whose High Street style is now being much copied and commented on.

Unlike Kate, whose appearances since the wedding have been limited to just two glimpses (one of those being in Waitrose!) Pippa has been a highly visible fashion force. Nicknamed ‘Her Royal Hotness’ by the press, her high-end High Street wardrobe, featuring clothes from French Connection, Reiss and Zara, has been a big hit with girls worldwide.

This last week, Pippa has shown that she has her finger on the button when it comes to this seasons trends. Last week she was photographed in a colour blocking dress from Zara and  a gorgeous colour pop top in deep coral.

This  week Pippa has been enjoying the sights and sounds of Paris, including Rafa Nadal at the French Open, and all eyes have once again been on her wardrobe. She was spotted centre court wearing a cute dotted skirt with the ‘wear everywhere’ t-shirt. T-shirts have been a big trend this season thanks to Jil Sander, who has teamed them with everything, including long evening skirts.

This evening Pippa was spotted dining out in Paris wearing another cute mini skirt, with Tory Burch flats and a neat tailored blazer.

With rumours of a Glee tribute and a spot on Oprah’s new venture, it seems that Miss Middleton’s easy chic is here to stay. That role as a royal bridesmaid could be the most lucrative one Pippa will ever carry out!

Style Icon of the Month – Fan Bing Bing

Fan Bing Bing is my nomination for style icon of the month after she wore a series of stunning looks at the Cannes film festival. I confess to not being that knowledgable about the lovely Chinese actress and singer, but what I do know is that every time she appears on the red carpet I gasp in astonishment. She always looks completely immaculate, perfectly groomed, and wears the most knock out outfits imaginable.

This Cannes season she wore a series of beautiful looks from the likes of Oscar De La Renta, Louis Vuitton, Elie Saab and Atelier Versace. Beautiful hairstyles that mark Fan as the Queen of reinvention complimented each dress.

Here are some of Fan’s key looks from a most fashionable look.

When I was a little girl I loved looking at the pictures of old movie stars and admiring their dresses, and wishing I could have access to their wardrobe. As a women, I feel the same about Fan Bing Bing. Definitely my new girl crush!

Fashion-Mommy Loves – A style review of May.

Nobody could deny that May has been a stylish month. The Cannes festival bought a-list glamour and star quality to the sunny South of France, with stars from Kirsten Dunst to Angelina Jolie creating red carpet magic in abundance. British fashionistas were left salivating by the visit of the Obama’s, with a fash-off between Michelle Obama, Kate Middleton and Samantha Cameron, that sent the Reiss website into meltdown, thanks to the new Duchess of Cambridge’s Shola dress. There were numerous awards ceremonies, from the Billboard music awards, the National Movie awards and The television Baftas. And Fashion-Mommy wrote her first piece for the Express and Star blog – hopefully the start of a long collaboration. Here’s what else caught my eye this month.

Glamorous Looks

There have been some really glamorous looks this month. The last Oprah Winfrey chat show saw the host wearing not one, but two gorgeous L’Wren Scott dresses, whilst guests like Queen Latifah, Halle Berry and Madonna also shone. Angelina Jolie wore a range of beautiful dresses in Cannes, but I  particularly loved the Jenny Packham gown she wore to The Tree of Life premiere. Also admired were the looks on display at the unveiling of the Chanel Resort collection – particularly Alexa Chung and Laura Bailey. Victoria Beckham finally showed us some sassy maternity styling when she went to the unveiling of Simon Fuller’s star on the Hollywood Walk of fame wearing one of her own designs. And Lily Allen was my look of the month in a stunning vintage dress for the Harvey Nichols launch of Lucy in Disguise.

The National television awards saw numerous costume changes for Christine Bleakley, including dresses by Emilia Wickstead and Bruce Oldfield, but my best dressed on the night were the amazing Gwyneth Paltrow, and Birmingham’s own Emma Willis. Taylor Swift  ruled the Billboard fashion awards in her glittering strapless sheath by Elie Saab.

There have also been some unlikely candidates who have caught my eye this month. I have never been a fan of Fergie’s over the top showgirl style, but I loved her in this beautiful yellow dress by BCBG Max Azria, whilst television presenter Lorraine Kelly looked simply lovely in her appropriate floral dress at the Chelsea flower show. Princess Beatrice put the silly hat behind her, selling it for £81,000 on Ebay, and then stunned in a series of great looks at the Chelsea Flower show and Cartier Polo. A fashion heroine in the making.

Again, it was a great month for plus size fashion. Evans was featured in a stunning shoot for Now magazine starring the stunning Toccara Jones,  whilst the beautiful Marquita Pring was unveiled as the face of the new May collection. Adele continued her new career as cover girl, with her face on the cover of Fabulous, Look, Rolling Stone and Q magazine, along with a fabulous 60s inspired wardrobe which she wore on Jools Holland.

Weddings are still a big fashion story following that Royal wedding. Model Lily Aldridge married Caleb Followhill from the Kings Of Leon, and looked enchanting, whilst Ed Milliband married Justine Thornton with the bride wearing a simply elegant dress by Alice Temperley, which perfectly suited her pixie hair cut.

The Royal bride made only one public appearance this month, but what an appearance. Meeting the Obamas at Buckingham Palace, Kate wore a beautifully understated dress from High Street store Reiss that sent the internet into overdrive. The biscuit coloured dress became a total sell-out, with the Reiss website still down 24 hours later.  Sister Pippa continued her push for world domination, showing that Kate wasn’t the only fashion wow in the Middleton house. She was praised for her style in a Zara colour block dress and had the Modalu bag she wore renamed in her honour. Not bad for the bridesmaid!

My buys this month.

I got some bargain holiday buys from Select, including an amazing Kate Bush style kimono jacket. I also some great holiday buys from Dorothy Perkins and New Look.
