Evan Rachel Wood – The Perfect Halloween Icon.

October 23rd, 2011

I make no apologies for loving Evan Rachel Wood. She is a fantastic young actress (have you seen her in Mildred Pierce) and has a fascinating personal life that takes in both Marilyn Manson and (possibly)Mickey Rourke. She is not your average Hollywood starlet by any means,  and her wardrobe choices echo this. She is possibly the girl who wears the colour black to the most dramatic effect at the moment, and although she does make other colour choices, like looking amazing in Alessandra Rich sparkling white at Cannes, I really love her style when she opts for the dark and the dramatic.

From Pucci at the Recent Ides of March premiere, Elie Saab at the Emmys and Alessandra Rich at Cannes, Evan really knows how to wear black for dramatic gothic effect. But unlike Eva Green, who also channels a dark vampirish look, Evan never looks cartoonish or a fright show. Adding splashes of red, on her lips, or with sexy heels, she looks like the most beautiful vampire bought to life – a bit like her turn in True Blood.

Here are some of Evans’s most beautiful red carpet moments.

This look is a big story this season, and with Halloween just over a week away, it is one that you may be tapping into very soon. With that in mind I am going to point you in the direction of Wallis, which I think has the perfect neo-gothic collection. Inspired by Alexander McQueen, the collection makes great use of leather, lace and every shade of black.
