After a look at menswear featured at the Arcadia Spring/Summer Press day in yesterday’s post, today I’m moving onto ladieswear, starting with Wallis.
There were shades of Stella McCartney and Mary Ann Kantrantzou in the beautiful, vibrant prints of the Wallis Spring/Summer collection. Green, orange and pink bouquet shades were the order of the day, with bright prints being married to pleats to make wonderfully floaty skirts, both midi and maxi lengths.
The mood echoed the 1930s, maxi dresses and wide leg palazzo pants are a definite style story, whilst lace is still around in the form of teadresses.
With the Olympics just around the corner, the use of metallic gold, silver and bronze in the form of knitted tops and thin sweaters could only evoke London 2012. But the metallics, teamed with sandy shades give this a desert feel, a sense of 1930s Cairo. This Safari vibe will be a big trend for early Spring, and will then move onto the more tropical, botanical prints, digital prints with handkerchief hemlines and side printed panels that again evoke 1930s elegance.
For high summer, sports luxe will be huge (Olympics again?) in delicate silks that will take up little or no room in your holiday suitcase. There will be some gorgeous citrus shades of tangerine and lime used in the form of mouth-watering sequins that are just amazing, definitely top of my Summer shopping list. All in all a really varied collection that offers something to savour.
