Fashion Mommy Loves: Laura Ashley’s retro chic.

February 29th, 2012

Laura Ashley is a legend of the British High Street. The business had humble beginnings, with Bernard and Laura Ashley printing fabric scarves in their kitchen in 1953, but has gone on to be one of the most beloved, and inherently English of stores. I always feel an affinity with Laura Ashley,a real affection for the brand. Maybe it is because I have always loved the prints, teadresses and smocks they became famous for. Maybe it is because they opened their first store in Macchynlleth, which happens to be one of my favourite places. Or maybe it is just the fabulous, stylish and totally timeless collections that they produce season after season.

This season is no exception. Polka dot prints, floral and retro prints featuring everything from fruit to apples give this new collection a very vintage feel. I love that this collection feels like it has been taken from the pages of a 1950s catalogue. It is fresh, pretty and feminine, and is sure to appeal to girlie girls and ladies everywhere.
