The Duchess of Cambridge upped the glamour stakes the day after the met ball by opting to wear a beautiful white/cream gown from Roland Mouret for an engagement at Claridges last night.
The beautiful white gown had a surprisingly high split for the Duchess, showing that maybe the admiration of the Duchess’s style by Angelina Jolie is being reciprocated. However, Kate remembered the less is more notion in that the dress had long sleeves and a high neckline, leaving the only flesh on show to be that tantalising glimpse of leg.
Kate accessorised with sparkling silver accessories. I love metallics set against white, and the silver Jimmy Choo’s were a real princess sandal – bringing to mind glass slippers. This may have been in response to designer Nicholas Kirkwood, who said that Kate’s shoes weren’t Princessy enough. No-one could say that about the beautiful shoes Kate wore last night.
This dress reminds me of the Catherine Walker designed dresses worn by the late Princess of Wales. This was the more understated Diana, and I can see parallels between the Mouret dress and the pink and white evening gown worn by Diana in the image below. This is probably just me, but when I saw Kate in her white gown, this Diana dress instantly came to mind.
