When I was asked if I would like to review some products from Cotton Traders, I must admit that I was a little bit puzzled. My image of Cotton Traders was of a brand that stocked casual denim and outdoorsey type sporty products, the sort of items that were definitely not my cup of tea. But I decided to take a look at the website anyway, as my interest had been piqued, and I was frankly more than pleasantly surprised. Because Cotton Traders is the perfect place to look for the perfect daytime dress, the sort of dress you can wear for a shopping trip, a day by the seaside, a walk in the countryside. A dress that looks great, makes you feel feminine, but is also totally comfortable and wearable.
The first dress I chose was the striped Maxi dress. This is a gorgeous, candy coloured seaside stick of rock sort of dress that I wore, rather fittingly, for a rather windy trip to the seaside. The first thing I loved about the dress was the fabric. This dress is stretch cotton, but doesn’t cling, being just slightly thicker than I expected. This meant it skimmed curves rather than clung to dear life to them. This was also perfect maxi length for me (I’m 5ft6in) being just above ankle length. I loved the way this had been styled in the image above, with pretty silver sandals, but it was a much breezier day when I wore it, so I teamed it with coral ballerina pumps, a mid blue denim jacket, and a straw bag.
This dress is fabulous, a total snip at just £26. I was really impressed with the quality, this is a dress that will stretch with you, move with you, and will still look great. This is the perfect school run dress, just throw it on, add a jacket, and you’re ready to go.
The second dress I chose was the gorgeous jersey dress in hot pink. This has a slightly dressier design, with an empire line and pretty ruching detail on the bustline. This is also a very flattering design that fits and flares, but due to the nature of the thick cotton and lycra, any lumps and bumps may require a pair of spanx. That said, this dress is worth the effort because it looks just amazing, and needs just a pair of wedges and a simple forties style cardigan to be ready. Plus, because of the more fitted nature of this dress, you could add a black blazer and a court shoe for a summer outfit perfect for a day in the office.
If pink is not your thing, this dress also comes in a lovely shade of summer yellow, or in a rather smart navy option that would look great with red accessories for a more nautical look.
All in all, I think Cotton Traders is a great, one stop shop, for the sort of everyday summer essentials that are comfortable, hard-wearing and look wonderful. Cotton Traders provides effortless dressing at its best.
