Spartoo bring in the red, white and blue

Nobody could’ve failed to notice that there is a certain sporting event going on at the moment, an event that seems to be sending everyone a little TEAM GB crazy. The only colours to be seen wearing at the moment are red, white and blue – in whatever combination.

In honour of that event, in honour of Team GB, and in honour of all the medals that we are still to win, I have selected four very special pairs of shoes from Spartoo that allow you to show a bit of patriotism on your feet. I have chosen the Odenie design by Coleur Pourpre that totally embodies all the elements of cool Britannia, yet has a court shoe style to it making it totally wearable. For the blue we have the gothic glamour of the sugar hiccup platforms from Iron Fist, a vibrant cobalt shade embellished with skulls. For the red we have Flick Flack from Irregular Choice, a pair of shoes as witty, vibrant and original as that fabulous opening ceremony. And for the white we have that great British classic, Hush Puppies and the elegant design of the Racey. Whether you chose red, white or blue..or all three you can be sure of one thing – your feet will look in medal winning form.

my wardrobe New Collection focus – Preen

I’m currently having a bit of a love affair with Preen. I love the edgy prints, the slightly rock and roll attitude they take to clothing. The fact that every piece could’ve come from Kate Moss’s wardrobe because you could just see her wearing everything also helps. These pieces are both aspirational and inspirational – I wish I owned them, I wish I’d designed them.

The current Preen collection on sale at my fills me with lust for the stunning prints that are so transcendental, reminding me of the sea in the deep azure shades, yet feeling like it would be ok to wear with thick opapues and a shrunken tuxedo when the Autumn sets in.

The daisy print dress brings to mind beautiful stained glass windows that are looked upon in awe,  but with that punkish shock of pink adding to the rock and roll sensibilities. I adore that this dress requires no accessorising, and that although it is wonderfully dressy, you could throw a slouchy sweater over the top, turning this look into a 1990s grunge style with the dress as a tube style skirt.

But if bright and colourful aren’t your thing, there are also some seriously sexy cocktail dresses that would have Kate Moss and Emma Watson racing for the credit cards.  The stunning Olympia Ted dresses are chic bandage effect numbers in the brightest of red, and the perfect little black shade. These are the Christmas party dress totally sorted – just add killer heels and red lippie and you are all set to go.

Duchess Kate wears Roksanda Ilincic to the Royal Academy

The Duchess of Cambridge summer wardrobe of style continued today, with two appearances by Kate, at the equestrian event to support Zara Philips (who was superb by the way…), and then at an event at The Royal Academy she wore a beautiful dress by one of my favourite designers, Roksanda Ilincic.

But first to the equestrian ground. Kate was in casual mode, wearing the gorgeous Smythe blazer that we first saw during the tour of Canada last summer. Skinny jeans, the Stuart Weitzman wedges and a crisp white shirt completed the look, which had a very preppy edge to it. Every girl needs a smart blazer in their wardrobe, Kate showed that they can look great dressed down with jeans, or smart worn over a dress for work and more formal occasions.

Navy cotton sateen blazer

White pleat side fitted shirt

Indigo superskinny jeans

Black espadrille wedge courts

Kate’s 2nd outfit of the day was a beautiful, dove grey, dress by Roksanda Ilincic. This dress, the ‘Peridot’ dress had also been worn last summer during Kate’s trip to North America, but with new LK Bennett heels, jewelled earrings and a sophisticated updo, this dress was transformed into a perfect cocktail dress.

Roksanda Ilincic dresses are a dream, deceptively simple in design, it is all about the cut which often has interesting drape detailing that is very flattering. For fans of Roksanda who don’t have a Duchess style budget, there is a fantastic high street range for Debenhams as part of the Editions range.

Kate’s dress is from a previous season, but many of the dresses in the  new season collection, which is now on sale at Selfridges, have the same exquisite draping detailing that is a trademark of Roksanda Ilincic designs. Many dresses in the new collection are in Kate’s favourite shade of blue, which makes me wonder whether we will be seeing her in any of these designs in the coming months.
