5 Pairs of Shoes Every Woman Should Own

Do you love to day dream about shoes? They say that you can never have too many, and if that’s the case, there’s no harm in treating yourself to a new pair! When you want to add to your footwear collection but aren’t sure which shoes will make the best fashion investment, read my guide on 5 pairs of ladies shoes that every woman should own:

A pair of killer heels

The most appealing shoes have to be heels; it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what makes these impractical designs so attractive but every woman will want to own a pair of killer heels that really turns heads. The ultimate shoe goal however is to own at least one pair of killer designer heels. There’s nothing that will boost a woman’s confidence like a pair of Louboutins.

A pair of sensible boots

Every woman should own a sensible yet fashionable pair of boots. Boots are practical and cosy (great for winter) and yet most give instant sex appeal. There are so many boot styles to choose from that you probably won’t want to stop and one pair; ankle boots, knee highs, thigh highs, cowboy style, biker boots and Uggs are all currently popular.

A pair of stylish trainers

When you’re fashion conscious, owning a pair of trainers won’t be higher on your agenda but you never know when sporty footwear could come in handy! Perhaps you take an unexpected outdoor adventure and need a comfortable pair of shoes for walking or jogging? Or maybe you need trainers for running around after the kids? Trainers don’t have to come in the hideous all white forms that you may imagine; look at simple trainer boots like Converses’ or bright and urban sport hi-tops.

A pair of simple flats

Wearing heels all-day every day is just not practical, in fact wearing heels to often can be bad for your health. It’s for that reason that every woman should own a fabulous pair of flats that she can slip on and off with ease and wear for any occasion – whether that be a glamorous night out or an afternoon at the shopping centre. Ballet pumps are the obvious choice when it comes to stylish flats, they’re elegant and comfortable and available in many colours and finishes, including patent and suede.

Kate Moss is a fan of flat shoes.

A pair of office-ready brogues

Dressing for work can be dull, strict dress codes can mean practicality and uniform come above style. There are ways to work a bit of high-fashion into your office wear however and brogues are a great example of this. These quirky menswear-inspired lace-ups have grown really popular over the last few years and make a nice alternative to plain court shoes and kitten heels. Brogues are usually available in dark shades with minimal-no heel (though heeled versions are also available).

Boden – Top Ten Dresses for Every Occasion

I am totally besotted by the latest collection of dresses from Boden. Featuring a mouthwatering palette of colour, and a range of styles to suit all tastes and body shapes, Boden are again showing that when you need a dress for an occasion, they are definitely the shopping destination of choice.

The 60s styling which seems to becoming Boden’s trade mark is still around, with the Wardour dress having that early 1960s silhouette favourited by Doris Day in those Rock Hudson paired comedies like Pillow Talk and Lover Come Back. The zesty yellow of the lace dress is sheer sixties ‘dollybird’ and has been styled as such, think Brigitte Bardot at her sexiness, whilst the white innocence of the Clara dress is pure Marianne Faithfull, before she met Mick Jagger of course.

But this collection is not just for those obsessed with that swinging decade. All the fabulous prints, and jersey stretchiness that you associate with Boden are still there, with the Roseberry dress a perfect transitional piece as we move from the (hopefully) final cold stretch into early spring. And, if you are planning a holiday in the sin, make sure you add the casual jersey dress to your shopping list. I’m thinking tan sandals and a straw hat and you will be sunshine ready!

Michelle Heaton launches the Aegon Classic Ladies Day

Yesterday I braved the snow and ice for a very special launch event that was taking place in Birmingham. In the glamorous confines of the In House Bar in Birmingham’s House of Fraser, the Aegon Classic Ladies Day was officially launched with Bucks Fizz, canapes and a very glamorous ambassador.

The very beautiful Michelle Heaton from Liberty X was unveiled as the official face of this years ladies day, and a more wonderful and apt person could not have been chosen. Michelle recently faced a very difficult health decision after she found she had an 80% chance of developing breast cancer due to the mutated BRCA2 gene. Michelle had a double mastectomy in November, and has since done much to raise awareness of breast cancer, breast surgery and reconstruction. With Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer the official charity of the Aegon Classic Ladies Day this year, Michelle offered a poignant reminder that breast cancer continues to  need further research and awareness.

Michelle looked amazing, having been styled in a wonderful Mary Portas dress from House of Fraser. Slim, tanned and toned, she looked the picture of health and spoke warmly of her excitement about the Aegon Classic Ladies Day event, and how this was going to be a real girls day out, talking of how she was going to bring her mother and friends on the day. She was then happy to mingle and chat with the guests, happily posing for photographs and discussing the terrible weather!

The Ladies’ Day at the Aegon Classic is taking place on Thursday 13 June at the Edgbaston Priory Club. For more information on tickets, please visit www.aegonclassic.co.uk/tickets or call 0844 209 7359.
