I’m planning a holiday wardrobe…

May 1st, 2013

Sometimes, an event that has caused you undue grief can have a happy ending. And so it has proved for me. A long-running case looking at professional negligence has been finally closed in favour of a close family member (will not bore you with all the details, but really, some companies are just not worth working for under any circumstances), and with it finally at an end, all thoughts have turned to having a family holiday, abroad, for the first time in a couple of years. And boy, is that an exciting thought!

So, at the end of June I will be jetting off for two weeks in the sun, to Menorca to be precise, and I am currently planning my holiday wardrobe. I want to travel light, leaving room in my suitcase for shopping whilst there, this is, after all, the home of Pretty Ballerinas and all that Spanish lace.

So here are the things I have already purchased, or have my eyes on.

Swedish Hasbeens

I saw these when I was writing a post about shoes, and before the post was finished, I’d ordered them. It’s the fantastic yellow shade that was just so tempting.

I love this swimsuit by Melissa Odabash for Marisota because it is just so glamorous. The thicker material offers tummy control, and I love the accents of gold that add a luxurious feel to this costume. Perfect for swimming, or just posing poolside with a cocktail.

You need more than one swimsuit for a two-week holiday, and I always think it is a good idea to have a colour theme running through you holiday wardrobe so you can mix and match things. This swimsuit from Evans is a lighter blue that the Melissa Odabah one, but could probably be teamed with the same sandals and sarongs. Again, the gold is such a glorious touch.

This is the perfect beach cover up from Dorothy Perkins. In the lightest cotton, this will take up little or no room in your suitcase, but for the minimum of your baggage allowance, this dress offers the maximum glamour. I expect to throw this on for a spot of sightseeing and shopping.

Cotton dresses are the perfect choice for hot climates, and this paisley print dress has a pretty silhouette and would look great with flat sandals or wedge heels.

A decent beach bag can double as a shopping tote when you get home. I’m rather partial to these two from Debenhams. The Nine West bag, in particular, can be wiped clean, a great plus when you are putting it down on sandy beaches.

I will be adding lots of Summer holiday ideas in the next few weeks, if you want me to feature something in particular, just let me know.
