I must admit that up until last year my perception of Hobbs was ‘nice, but not for me’. Then three things happened to change this. The first was the patronage by the Duchess of Cambridge, wearing Hobbs pieces on many different occasions. If it was good enough for Kate, it was definitely good enough for me.
The second thing was that I lost weight, and could now fit comfortably into a Hobbs size 16, which made this a viable option for me. And the third was attending a special Hobbs event in Birmingham on the night of the Olympic opening ceremony, and discovering I wanted to buy Everything. (You can read about that event here.)
So I was interested to see how Hobbs would tackle Autumn this year. The answer was with style, variety and colour. Classic black and grey pieces are anything but boring, with quilted leather, biased cut skirts and exquisite knitwear. This seasons check is also there. More subtle than tartan, this instead deploys the unusual colour way of teal for great effect. And, just when you think this season is a stylish but safe option, 18th century style tapestry is added to the mix, and lashes of hot mustard adds further fire to the collection.
