The humble polo top has come a long way from the days when it was just an item of sporty apparel. These days it is one of the most iconic items that a man can have in his wardrobe. It is associated with the mod-look of the 1960s, the buttoned down, sharp-suited style of The Who and The Small Faces, and also their modern counterparts, Liam Gallagher and the Modfather himself, Mr Paul Weller. Polo shirts also play a huge role in one of the most stylish modern-day feels, ‘The Business’, where the delectable Danny Dyer wears pastel shaded Sergio Tacchini and Fila tops to such great effect. Clearly the polo top is not humble anymore.
And now we have a new, cult name to add to the polo shirt list. Weekend Offender is a cool British brand offering a neat line in polo shirts, t-shirts and smart shirts. Weekend Offender is the creation of store owner Sam Jones and graphic designer Rydian Powell. Established back in 2004, the brand has made a name for itself by producing clever, eye-catching designs. It has gained a celebrity following, with Jake Bugg, James Dean Bradfield, Jack O Connell, Jermaine Jenas and comedian Chris have all been photographed wearing the brand.
A great place to find good deals on Weekend Offender pieces is the online site Infinities. Infinities stocks all the latest pieces from Weekend Offender, and also has regular sales and offers that make it a great place to stock up on your favourite brands, and to bookmark as you try that difficult task of finding a Christmas present for the man in your life. Infinities recently sent me a Weekend Offender top for my polo-shirt loving hubby to try out, and we were seriously impressed by how good this brand really is.
The Woven Contrast Polo shirt in Navy is a very smart option, with a contrasting collar in a lighter blue shade that gives the top an unusual edge. It has a small Weekend Offender tag on the pocket which is perfect if you try to avoid large, ostentatious labeling. The shirt is a regular fit, but this means it is slim fitting without being clingy, making it a more comfortable option. In breathable cotton, this is a great, all round top that looks good with jeans and trainers for the football terrace look, but is also smart enough to wear under a cardigan in Winter if you are attempting the original (and best) Mark Ronson look.
Infinities have some more great Weekend Offender pieces. Check out a few more that caught my eye.
