Summer Sandals

With Summer holidays almost upon us, now is the time to get those tootsie’s pedi-ready and into a pair of stylish sandals. Warm days can lead to hot, swollen feet, especially when they are being pushed into full shoes, especially anything with a heel. Luckily, sandals can now be a smart and stylish option, as well as something that is perfect for casual weekends, and days on the beach.

Choosing the right type of sandal is not always the easiest of tasks. I love toe-post styles and find them easy and comfortable to wear. However, I know a lot of people who hate this style, finding the toe-post uncomfortable and irritating. I find that slip-on types of sandals don’t offer my feet enough support, and yet pool sliders and other one strap sandals are very popular this season. Heels are another consideration. Totally flat options leave my calf muscles aching, so I try to go for a sandal with a small square heel. or even a wedge heel.

Whatever you are looking for in a perfect sandal, you are sure to find it from Spartoo. With stock from Clarks, Melissa, Kickers, Birkenstock and many more famous names, it should be pretty easy to find at least one pair of sandals that addresses your foot’s every need. The only problem may be, that with more than 3,000 pairs to chose from, you may not be able to settle for just one – great news for your feet and wardrobe, not quite so good for you bank balance!

Celebrity style update featuring Jessica Alba, Kate Moss and Soccer Aid!

This is a celebrity post that frankly could go on forever, and is really only ending at all because I am so tired (half term weeks are literally the most fun, and yet most exhausting weeks of the whole year by a mile.) There have been so many amazing looks sported by celebs over the past month or so, and many of them have come direct from the High Street.

So this post includes a get the look for Hollywood star, and one of my style crushes, Jessica Alba, using pieces from Wallis, Debenhams and Northweek. There are looks from small screen goddesses Susannah Reid, Laura Whitmore and Kate Garraway, wearing Warehouse and Red Herring respectively, whilst fellow TV alumni Kay Adams and Mary Berry are shown in Hot Squash and Joseph Ribkoff designs.

We also have a bit of celebrity cosmetics in the new Kate Moss for Rimmel range – this has some fantastic colours and the prices are pretty reasonable. And with Soccer Aid just a week away, I have featured the TM Lewin suit that the England players will be wearing, as well as the special ties designed for England and ‘The Rest of the World’ that cost £25, with £10 from each sale going to charity. I think these would make a great Father’s day present for even the most discerning dad.

Enjoy – more celebrity fashion will be coming your way in June.

Beauty Review – Antipodes Divine Face Oil

I love discovering new products and new brands, especially when it comes to beauty and skincare. This year I seem to have paid even more attention to my skin than usual, possibly due to a big birthday I have coming up next month – hitting the big 4-0. It is as if I have suddenly realised that you truly only have one skin, and therefore need to take extra time looking after it. The Divine Face Oil by Antipodes in Organic Avocado oil and Rosehip is the newest wonder product I have added to my bathroom shelf, and it is a product that I take no time in recommending.

Antipodes is a brand that takes a great pride in using natural and organic ingredients in their product. For the Divine face oil, it offers 100% ingredients from natural origin, (a base of 100% Avocado Oil) and 95% of ingredients from organic cultivation. This means you are not pumping lots of chemicals into your skin, but giving it a natural treat. I tested this product daily for a month, and have to say that it was super easy to fit into my skincare regime, and has definitely shown some positive results.

The bottle makes application simple. It has a simple stopper that enables you to measure out a small amount, stopping wastage – this is one of those products where a little goes a long way.  I used this after washing in the morning, massaging it into my face and neck. I paid particular attention to the lines on my forehead, and my cheekbones which suffer from redness. These are my noticeable problem areas, but this would also be good for sun damaged skin, acne scars and tired looking skin.

DSCN7564[1]DSCN7565[1]The product is an oil, so it does take a while to absorb into the skin, but it feels so soft and silky I really didn’t mind about this. There is also a gorgeous scent of essential oils that comes from the Rosehip, it lingers and is just lovely, very soft and almost sensuous. Once I had applied the oil, I left it a few minutes and then applied my daily make-up as usual.

The oil is non-greasy, and the scent is just gorgeous.

The oil is non-greasy, and the scent is just gorgeous.

After using this for a month I have noticed that my skin is definitely softer. The redness of my cheeks is not as pronounced, and this product has just become a regular part of my daily routine – quick and easy to apply and offering an instant boost that makes it a new beauty essential, especially for those who like their skincare products to be natural.

The Antipodes Divine Oil is available at Selfridges. A 25ml bottle costs £19.  You can view all the Antipodes products by clicking here.
