I am a huge fan of Simply Be. They offer great quality clothing that comes in a really good range of sizes, with the sizing actually being true to size (one of my main bugbears of fashion is when a size large is a size 12!). I also love that the website is a one stop shop, you can get everything from holiday fashion to formal wear, you can find a dress for a wedding, a prom, for sightseeing, or to wear for work. The range is vast and varied and I would defy anyone to not find something they liked, whatever their taste.
My current favourite is the Simply Be Plise ruffle midi dress that seems to be my go-to party dress at the moment. As someone who is pretty obsessed with the 1970s, particularly the Studio 54 era, this is a dress that I can well imagine Bianca Jagger or Jerry Hall wearing as they danced the night away with Andy Warhol. The rich emerald green colour is just vibrant and stunning, and yet, for a dress that can only be described as super glamorous, it is also decidedly comfortable to wear – with no zips or fastenings, and in a super stretchy plise fabric.
This dress is perfect for holidays, you can easily team it with a glittery sandal and clutch bag, and the easy pull on style and non crease fabric makes it great to throw into the suitcase. That said, the deep green colour and luxurious plise style pleats also give this a very glamorous feel, and I can easily see this dress being a hit at Christmas parties. I wore this recently to a birthday party, teamed with a heeled sandal and it was a dress that I had lots of positive comments.
I keep mentioning that this dress is really easy to wear because it truly is. The elastication around the bust means that the dress is secure and will not lead to any embarrassing situations, it stays in place. But the elastic is not tight under the arms and does not leave marks – something I have experienced with other elasticated ‘boob tubes’.
For the ultimate in party dresses, I can’t recommend this one highly enough, just add a pair of chandelier earrings and some mermaid hair and your set to go, Jerry Hall style circa 1975.
