Are You Forgetting About Your Lips?

With so much emphasis on bold eyebrows and multi-step Korean skincare routines, the lips are becoming a bit of an afterthought. However, the lips are one of your most important assets. Kissable, soft and luscious lips should be a top priority of any beauty enthusiast.

That’s why we have made an easy-to-follow to-do list of proper lip care, from keeping the skin of the lips as soft as can be to dressing them up to dazzle everyone around you.

Step 1: Exfoliate

Just like your skin, your lips can get clogged with dead skin cells. Lips also tend to have dry skin on them from coming into contact with saliva so frequently.

Luckily, there are now many scrubs on the market that are made just for lips. These are non-toxic and gentle enough for delicate lip skin.

Step 2: Moisturise

Lips need a ton of moisture as the skin can become dried and chapped easily. Finding a lip balm that uses rich moisturising ingredients like shea butter, beeswax and various oils is essential.

It’s also very important to choose a lip balm that protects your lips against sun damage. Choose an SPF of 15 or higher to adequately protect lips from harmful UV rays that can lead to skin cancer.

You should have a lip balm in your purse at all times in order to keep lips moisturised throughout the day.

Step 3: Prime

If you plan on giving your lips a pop of color, prime your lips first with a lip primer. Just like a facial primer, the formula used in lip primers allows color to stick to the lips without smearing. It will also help color stand out.

Step 4: Colour!

A new lipstick shade can transform your entire vibe. Red lips can turn you into a sexy siren while soft peach tones can give you a feminine, ethereal look. When it comes to lipstick colors, never be afraid to experiment so that you may discover which shades best flatter your own unique style and coloring.

We hope that this guide thoroughly illustrated all of the steps necessary to achieve gloriously beautiful and kissably soft lips. A gorgeous pair of lips can seduce the people around you and set the tone for your entire vibe. By following these steps, your lips will be in the best shape that they have ever been.

A Valentine’s gift to share from Amphora Aromatics

So you are looking for the perfect Valentine’s gift, but are trying to think outside the box, moving away from the flowers, chocolates and cuddly toys. But you are also on a tight budget. maybe with less than £20 to spend on the perfect gift. I have a great gift idea to share with you today, and the best thing about it is that this is a gift that you and your loved one can share, and perhaps have a lot of sensuous fun with.

Amphora Aromatics is a Bristol based company that specialises in natural beauty and skincare. All their products are handmade at their headquarters in Bristol, with inspiration coming from essential oils, spices and formulations that are found in the Souks of the near East – Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria. Amphora Aromatics are one of the UK’s largest suppliers of essential oils, and, this year they have put their expertise to good use to create a lovely gift set that has been made with lovers in mind.

Amphora Aromatics ‘Love It’ collection is just beautiful. Coming wonderfully gifted wrapped in an eco-friendly box with a silk ribbon embellishment, the box contains three wonderful products. First there is a 100ml bottle of relaxing body lotion. The relaxing body lotion is a blend of chamonile, lavender, lemon verbena and Melissa oils. The lavender comes through as the strongest scent at first, but when this is rubbed onto the skin the air is filled with the fragrance of the lemon verbena. It feels very soft on the skin and the scent lingers, the lotion is also none sticky and easily absorbed into the skin.

The sensuous massage oil smells divine. With sandlewood, patchouli and ylang ylang meshed with sweet almond, this is a heady scent that is so right for a massage with a loved one. Obviously this is an oil, but again I was surprised that it sank into the skin so easily without leaving a sticky residue, and it was just so soothing. The bath oil had a similar scent, but with added sweetness from the extra ingredients of geranium, rosewood and orange. The orange adds a very slight fruitiness, it is not over powering but very light. Both the massage oil and bath oil are 100ml bottles, with the bath oil being enough for about eight baths.

The Love It collection is a lovely gift idea, and a bit of a bargain too, coming in at just £11.95. You can get it in store, or by visiting

Baie Botanique Rose Renew Range

“…Baie Botanique successfully combines the wisdom of our ancestors with the power of modern skincare technology, to ensure that our natural and organic ingredients penetrate the skin’s surface. That way we have beauty from the inside and out – as our products gently renew the skin’s surface leading to a gorgeous glowing complexion, whilst replenishing deeper beneath the dermis…”

Baie Botanique is the brainchild of Sophie Oliver. Sophie had a background of a make-up artist, and when she transferred to a plant based lifestyle she decided to combine her expertise and passions into creating a very special skincare range. Baie Botanique has a basis in plant extracts, notably rose and rosehip, both of which are the staple ingredients of the Rose Renew range that I have been using on my skin for the past couple of weeks.

Rose Renew Regenerating Face Wash

The Rose Renew Regenerating Face Wash  is a very gentle formulation that can be used both day and night. You place a small amount in your hand and then massage into your face and neck before rinsing with warm water. It is very gentle on the skin, but has a lovely scent of rose that is fresh and natural – not like those very synthetic, old lady rose smells.  The product is very refreshing, and leaves the skin feeling really clean and very soft. The bottle is 125ml, which I think would last for quite a few weeks. The product contains what is known as the ‘Rose Renew Superstars’ – Organic Rose Water, Rose Absolute and Organic Rosehip Seed Oil’, which gives the product that lovely scent, and, more importantly, it contains no parabens, phlalates or synthetic colours or fragrances.

This is definitely a product that I would repurchase, lots of things irritate my skin – this doesn’t, pure and simple.

Rose Renew Regenerating Serum – Anti Ageing

This is a great product to put on once you have cleansed with the face wash. A pump action serum, this is a non-sticky serum that can be worn under make-up as part of an every day skincare routine. I found my skin tone looked noticeably brighter once I had used this for a few weeks, and my skin felt tighter too, which made the lines around my eyes and on my forehead less visible. This product promised to imcrease cell turnover and collagen production, which would explain the improvement in skintone. Once again, the superstar hero ingredients are there, and the ‘skincare nasties – parabens, phlalates et al, are not. (Click here to view)

This is one of the best serums I have used, a real hero product.

Rose Renew Regenerating Face Cream – Anti Ageing

This is a very good moisturiser that can be applied day and night, although I kept it until night-time as it was quite thick and nourishing. This is a pump action bottle which allows you to limit the amount that comes out – hence no waste, but it was definitely thicker than I expected it to be, which was pleasantly surprising. I did feel a slight tingle once I added this to my skin, but this calmed down very quickly and then the skin felt very soft and smooth. This is a product that promises to plump, hydrate and replenish the skin, and I really feel that it does this and so much more.

The beautiful rose scent is there, and I found myself using any excess as a rather lovely hand cream. The scent just lingered beautifully in the air.

Baie Botanique products are wonderfully organic and with that beautiful scent of rose, they evoke well being and relaxation as well as nourished and hydrated skin.
