Mellow Yellow Shoes bring a ray of sunshine

With the clocks going forward in the early hours, it will be official, British Summertime will begin. And although I have seen more than a few jokes on Twitter this morning (mainly about getting an extra hour of daylight to play in the snow), I am really hoping that the arrival of BST will also mean the weather starts to improve and that we finally get to see a bit of Spring sunshine.

But just in case the sun doesn’t quite make an appearance, there is no reason why you can’t have a bit of sunshine in your wardrobe. And what better way to add a bit of brightness than in your shoes? I’m a huge fan of yellow and mustard shade shoes and always have at least one pair in my wardrobe. The fab bright colour makes a welcome addition to most outfits, and they are the perfect shade for  summer holiday sandals. This season, Spartoo has a fabulous range of yellow shoe, including a pair of Swedish Hasbeens that I have already earmarked as a must for my summer holiday. I also love the Timeless Nevis flats, cute and stripy, and a total snip at less than £20, whilst the floral printed Doc Martens are perfect for the woman who wants to avoid being a total girlie girl, yet still wants to tap into the brights trend.

Spartoo and the Spooky shoes

When I was a little girl, I was always fascinated with witches shoes, after all, in the Wizard of Oz the witch was wearing the Ruby Red slippers so what was not to love? Even as a child I understood that witches, good or bad, were rather stylish, often wearing shiny black heels, with decidedly pointed toes, or in the occasional Mary Jane style. Even the fabulously bad Meg, of Meg and Mog fame, had some cute heels with shiny gold buckles. Witches shoes were most definitely cool.

Ava Gardner as a sexy witch

This month Spartoo is celebrating the coming of Halloween with a selection of shoes that will shock, delight and spook in equal measures. First there are the designs from Irregular choice which feature the witches familiar, the black cat, in a range of quirky shoes that inspire total admiration and love due to the originality of the design.

Iron Fist have moved away from the quirky with their perfect Halloween heels. Taking another staple of the spooky season, the skull, and then embellishing it onto some very high killer heels, they have created the Halloween shoe that is perfect to add to a simple outfit of jeans and a white tee.

If skulls aren’t your thing, but Taylor Lautner is, you could always pay tribute in the amazing werewolf shoe, the ‘Wolfbeater’, complete with a werewolf eye and lashings of red blood!

Of course, not all witches went for glamour, some were just too cool for school. And if you are from the generation who revere ‘The Craft’ as the ultimate Halloween film, then Spartoo have the perfect boots for you. Revert to classic high leg Doc Martens in black patent for style, comfort and the maximum in hard-wearing footwear, or a traditional Victorian style lace up from Tuk.

Dr Martens Liberty collection has launched!

Has someone who spent all her teenage years in a pair of battered cherry red Doc Martens, I still feel a smidgen of excitement when I spot a new variation on the classic Doc Marten design. So you can imagine the whoops of glee I gave when I saw that Liberty had collaborated on a range of boots, shoes and glorious satchels with the theme ‘Wild Nature’.  Can you imagine anything more quintessentially British in this Jubilee year than a match-up of those wonderful iconic boots and the institution that is Liberty Print?

‘Wild Nature’ – a celebration of the refined beauty of the flora used in Liberty print juxtaposed with the rebellious ethos of Dr. Martens’

This is how the collection has been described. I think this is the perfect shoe for feminine girlies who want to avoid being too pretty-pretty. The toughest of boots being softened by the most beautiful of prints. My personal favourite print has to be the wonderful ‘Strawberry thief’ print, which I think is Summer personified in a print – just so pretty.
