Venice Film Festival – Best Looks

The Venice Film Festival is always a glittering and glamorous affair. Although less well known than Cannes, Venice still has its fair share of A List movie stars who come to publicise their latest movies, wearing an array of stunning daytime and Red Carpet outfits as they do so.  The 2017 festival has been no exception to this.

This years festival has been attended by Helen Mirren, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Bosworth. Fashion mavericks Chloe Sevigny and Girls star Zosia Mamet have had a stellar festival, but for me, there is one lady who has totally stole the show with her choice of outfits. British star Rebecca Hall has totally killed it on the red carpet with a whole host of beautiful, elegant looks. I loved her in ‘Starter for 10’ and ‘Frost/Nixon’ and think her star is definitely going to be rising in 2018. Jennifer Lawrence is another lady who has had a super stylish Venice, and Kate Bosworth has also made some stunning choices.

Here are a few more fabulous looks from Venice, with a few red carpet worthy dresses that you can find on the High Street.

Oscars 2014 – My Favourite Looks

It seems strange that a year ago I sat writing my Oscar fashion piece lamenting that it wasn’t exactly a vintage year for fashion. Well, what a difference a year makes. 2014 was most definitely one of the best dressed Oscar fashion nights in years, so much so, that it would be difficult to chose a best dressed.

Lupita Nyong’o deservedly won her best supporting actress category and fashion plaudits in Nairobi blue Prada. It was a goddess style dress that was just so pretty, and the hairband was perfect to accessorize with. She has been the Queen of awards dressing and this dress was the absolute pinnacle.

Cate Blanchett opted for the inevitable Armani dress and looked a dream. The stunning nude dress was ‘heavy; in embellishments, but made her look like a star from the days when movie stars were movie stars. Elegant, ladylike and almost regal, Cate was just sublime, with perfect Grace Kelly hair and make up.

The American Hustle ladies may have been left disappointed on the night, but they didn’t disappoint in the style stakes. Amy Adams was in midnight blue Gucci and was the epitome of chic – she reminds me more and more of Lauren Bacall with her old-Hollywood choices. My one reservation was that the look was very bare – I would’ve liked to see a statement necklace with this. Jennifer Lawrence was loyal to Dior of course, but this red dress was, for me, her standout awards season dress. The peplum detail was super flattering – although her pratfalls are now getting a little less enduring – buy shoes you can walk in lady.

Here are all the looks that I just fell in love with on a super sparkling night of glamour.

The 2014 SAG Awards – All the best looks

Last night I stayed up very late to watch the 2014 SAG Awards (actually it was early this morning, but I’m not going to confuse matters. The SAG Awards are another in the stream of pre-Oscars events that often give pointers to who will win at the big event, and as such, the Hollywood a-list turn out in force.

Traditionally the SAGs have been seen as a more relaxed affair, but that did not seem to be the case last night. Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams both sported their best looks of the award season so far, in Dior and Antonio Berardi respectively. Cate Blanchett was a vision in pink Givenchy, whilst Anna Gunn from Breaking Bad looked fabulous in midnight blue. Lupita Nyong’o, was, as ever, breathtaking, this time in embellished Gucci that fitted her like a second skin.

Here are some of my fave looks from a stylish night.
