Men’s Style Focus – The Three Buttoned Suit

It’s Saturday afternoon, I’m sitting with a slush puppy on a beautiful balcony in Cyprus, and I thought I would bring you a bit of men’s fashion. Men often get left with the more boring end of the style spectrum, but, in recent years, stylish male celebrities like Gerard Butler, David Beckham, Olivier Giroud and Leonardo Di Caprio have all shown that a little stylish nuance, mixed in with suave looks and a nonchalant attitude can make a serious style status. The latest area of interest for men’s fashion is all about the suit buttons – do you go for a two or three buttoned suit?

Three button suits are becoming a very popular choice amongst stylish men. The buttons refer, of course, to the blazer, with three button versions being less common, but just as classy as their two buttoned brothers. Three buttoned versions need to be worn with care, however, to avoid being, well, too buttoned up I suppose. Esquire magazine pointed out Leonardo Di Caprio as the key example of how to wear a three buttoned suit perfectly, with just the centre button fastened, and the other’s left often in a relaxed fashion. This creates a look that is a very cool style for a man about town.  Suitsmen , who create Clothes for gentlemen, also echo the etiquette of the three buttoned suit, and how it should be worn. They say:-

The button etiquette with a three button jacket is to always button the middle button and to button the top button if desired, while always leaving the bottom button undone.

Suitsmen also point out another advantage of the three buttoned suit, in that it is a popular choice with taller men who have longer torsos, giving a much more balanced look. They supply suits from Brook Taverner, who create trousers that can be made in the longer length than then 33inches that are usually standard.

A man in a suit is always a perfect option for work and formal occasions, but maybe next time you come to choose one, you think a little more outside the box, at least when it comes to buttons.

Men’s Fashion Post – Jacamo Review

My Summer holiday is now just around the corner. In June I will be heading off, with my whole family, to Cyprus, in order to celebrate my brother’s wedding. This means that the next two months will be firmly looking towards our wardrobes, making sure that not only do we have outfits suitable for the wedding, but also clothes that will be fit for the extremely hot weather we will be experiencing.

Menswear brand Jacamo recently asked if I was interested in reviewing some pieces from their Summer ranges. Jacamo once had a reputation for being a destination for plus size clothing for men, but that is definitely in the past. With the gorgeous Freddie Flintoff as a face of the brand, and with ranges from Farah, Ellesse and French Connection amongst others, Jacamo is now a place where men can find clothing for pretty much every occasion, and a definite destination when it comes to choosing a holiday wardrobe, including swimshorts, chinos and polo shirts.

Most hotels require that swim wear, including swim shorts, are not worn in hotel restaurants for dinner. With that in mind Pete chose a seriously smart pair of Farah shorts, the Penberth Stretch Chino Shorts,  that look both cool and stylish, not to mention smart, when worn with a polo top. The shorts have a more tailored feel, with a slip fly fastening, and they have side and back pockets. These would be super smart when worn for an evening occasion, or a sight seeing trip, they just have that classic look.

When it comes to swimshorts, Pete loves the old school style of Ellesse. The Ellesse Brenzo swimshorts have a feel of the 1980s, and the film ‘The Business’. The shorts have a mesh lining, and a really useful zipped coin pocket on the back. The navy and white stripe colourway is both classic and modern, and gives the shorts a cool, football style feel.

I think Jacamo has really upped their game when it comes to great clothing for holiday season. Plenty of cool items that would definitely find room in your suitcase!

Guide to buying men’s shoes

This infographic will walk you through which shoes you should buy next. The graphic goes through shoes such the dress boot, the boat shoe and the basic trainer. What I really love about this infographic is that it introduces some keys, these keys easily show you what each shoe is perfect for. For example, the dress boot is perfect for sunny days, for smart attire and also advises you to wear those certain shoes with socks.
Another example would be the basic trainer where the keys say to also wear with socks, comfy for sports, for the casual look and perfect for sunny days. You can wear clothes such as hype clothing, hoodies and bomber jackets with basic trainers as they all fall under the casual look category.
