May Outfit Posts

May was busy. In fact, May was an extremely busy month. It was filled with press shows, events and family time, and it also featured some sunshine, and weather that was decidedly sunny – hurray! That said, it almost ruined the Bank holiday by pouring with a rain storm that can only be described as biblical, which was a shame, as the Friday before the Whitsun bank holiday was hot, hot, hot. I was in Wales for the Bank holiday and have to say we had two nice days, and in Britain, two out of three isn’t bad.

In terms of my wardrobe, May was filled with lots of my vintage and charity shop buys as I finally embraced my summer wardrobe.  There were a few new pieces, including my white skirt from TK Maxx that has a fifties prom feel, and the lovely Topshop dress that has a Bardot style neckline and a lovely silver thread running through it. But in general, this has been a month of bargain spotting, from the culottes that I got thinking they were a skirt, pricely sum £2.49, to the Louboutins that almost had me salivating (£25), and the red 1980s pleated skirt that is so lovely and cost just £1.99 from a Compton Hospice shop. I love having fun with fashion and generally think I have more fun rummaging than I do shopping the High Street.

What did you get this month? Do you ever vintage or charity shop?

March Outfit Post #WIWT

Another month has been and gone, and I have to say, where is the year going? March is always a month I dread. Sure, I love the coming of Spring, the lighter nights and sunny days that we did get to enjoy last month. But with all that comes a month of birthdays – my dad, my brother, my brother in law and my hubby. It makes March a very expensive month.

So thank goodness that Spring also brings more sales, and I have been able to pick up some real bargains over the last month, both online and in store. The charity shops have also been amazing, I have already highlighted some of my best finds, including the fabulous Burberry mac that I got for £15. (You can find that post here). This post is also about shopping your wardrobe – the F&F coatigan is an old fave that I reviewed some time ago, and was great as a cover up for a night at the theatre. Other old faves include my Pearl Lowe for Peacocks tea dress – surely that was one of the best high street collabs ever? The dresses are still so wearable and look glam, and I’m pleased to say I have four still in my wardrobe.

As ever, I have put links to some of my new season buys that are still available online, I would definitely check out the sale at Topshop which is still a real winner with plenty of lines still being added. Boohoo is also a brilliant place to shop the sales, my strapless dress was a real bargain.

Did you get any fashion bargains in March?

February Outfit Post

February. The shortest month but also one of the busiest. With half term falling at the end of the month I had to fit work around Joe’s soccer camp, football presentations and half term treats – this was one of those month’s when I really missed being at home, it seemed like I was out so much.

Clothing wise, there has been a mixture of casual and dressy, and I found that the shops were still full of bargains as the sales continued. I’m currently avoiding Spring as it doesn’t feel anywhere near warm enough to be wearing pastels and thinner clothing. That said, some of my best charity shop finds were in softer muted shades, including the pleated skirt that cost just £1 from a charity shop, and the two pieces that I found in the Heart Foundation store. I also found a lovely short sleeved red and white dress from the 1970s, this looks so lovely on and was another £1 bargain – I mean, what can you really buy for a pound???

Sales buys include the black Bardot dress I wore for the Thriller Live press night, and my new favourite pieces – the lilac Topshop frilled sweatshirt and the pink velour number from H&M, which looks so nice with the white floaty skirt. I got the two H&M pieces for £15 and know I will wear them lots this Spring.

I’m really looking forward to the weather getting warmer and being able to add some more Springlike pieces to my wardrobe. March is another busy month, with four family birthdays as well as Mother’s Day, and plenty of press events coming up. The wardrobe is going to be busy this month!
