A grand opening for ‘Newlife at Home’

‘Newlife at Home’ had a grand opening in Cannock on Saturday, and Fashion-Mommy was luck enough to be invited to the pre launch gathering in order to take a look around the fabulous new store.

Newlife is the children’s charity which supports disabled and terminally ill youngsters. It already has an amazing clothing superstore selling top high street brands at low prices, and now it has a must visit home and lifestyle superstore just across the road.

The Newlife at Home store is based on the site of the old Maymies nightclub (a haunt that Fashion-Mommy and Hubby remember well from the 1990’s…but that’s another story!). I was amazed at how stylish the store looked. Large tables were covered with totally covetable home accessories, all organised by colour. There were instantly recognisable luxury goods names available at extremely low prices, including a whole range of cups and kitchenalia from the top London store based in Knightsbridge. Most of the items cost less than £5. I fell totally in love with a bone China ‘Born to Shop’ cup that cost just £2.50, but another fashionista beat me in purchasing this item.

Parts of the store have a very boudoir – ish feel to them, with pretty scatter cushions arranged on a loving seat, a gorgeous bedroom area with antique style chairs and mirrors. There was also a great display of very chintzy aprons and teatowels which had a ‘Mad MenBetty Draper‘ aura about them.

Pampering was not forgotten. There were luxury brand bath products available and also cosmetics, all arranged in pretty wicker baskets. I loved the ‘Love’ and ‘Laugh’ mirrors which looked like vintage finds.

Newlife at Home is a fashionista’s dream store. So many items have a girlie, vintage feel, from pretty silver frames, to silk and ruffled cushions and wicker storage baskets. You can start to think about Christmas as they have a stunning range of tree decorations and snow globes for less than £5. Some displays encourage you to ‘Get the London Look’ with cute home accessories themed around the capital of cool.

The new store was blessed before the ribbon was cut for the official opening. A large queue had gathered outside by this point, all waiting patiently to snap up the bargains. The official ribbon cutting was performed by local MP Aidan Burley and his partner, TV fashionista Helen Boyle. They did a sterling job with the biggest pair of scissors imaginable. The tills began ringing almost immediately, with customers happily snapping up a whole range of brilliant bargains, from books to frames, vases to pictures, cushions to trinkets and Xmas decs to candles.
