Basket Bags – The Look of Summer

Every summer it seems I succumb to the same fashion obsession. I fall in love with every straw basket or bag I set my eyes on. I buy at least one new one per year, and then use them until they inevitably fall apart. Menorca is a really fabulous place to find them, with natural, simple designs taking their place amongst the coloured straw and more elaborately embellished ones. There is a basket to suit every taste, and they really suit the boho look of maxi dresses and cheesecloth skirts, but look just as good with jeans and a cotton top, or used as a beach bag with a Talitha Getty style kaftan.

On the day before I was due to go on holiday, my favourite straw bag suffered a disaster when the strap broke. I love this bag so much that I will be getting it repaired, but in the meantime I got a fabulous, classic straw basket from Menorcan brand Pou Nou which I know I will use to death!
