Boden Spring/Summer 2014 brights…and a little Christmas Cheer
Somerset House once again became Boden’s Spring/Summer haven as one of my fave brands unveiled it’s 2014 offering.Transforming the Portico rooms into an indoor beach, complete with sand, deckchairs and a rather fetching yacht, it was easy to forget the rain and biting wind outside. And with the beautiful pastel and neon bright colours of the Boden collection, it was so easy to long once again for those lazy, hazy days of Summer.
In recent seasons I’ve noticed that Boden has embraced two particular silhouettes and era’s, that of the 1950s and the 1960s. In many ways, these two era’s of fashion address all body shapes and style preferences. There are the two key shapes of the 50s, the full skirt, and the pencil styles, worn by Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe to such amazing effect. The 1960s gives us looser shapes, the eponymous shift dress and the hippyish tunic shapes. This season Boden is once again employing all those features, and adding Riviera style prints and Pucci colours to make a collection that is eye-catching, feminine and fun.
I just loved so many of the pieces. Here are a few of my favourites.
Of course, we are currently closer to Christmas than to Spring, let alone Summer, and Boden once again has some seriously good pieces, whether you are thinking ‘Party’ or just trying to style out the cold. You can currently get 30% off selected dresses, shoes and bags at Boden, so this week is a great time to pick up Christmas presents, party clothing, or just something you’ve had your eye on for a while.
