Getting Set For Summer With Gudrun Sjoden

I’m having a fan girl moment for Gudrun Sjoden once again. I honestly believe that when the weather turns brighter, there is genuinely nothing better than turning to their eco-cotton creations that look stylish and keep you cool. Gudrun’s Summer creations are made for packing in your suitcase, they weigh next to nothing, feel cool and lightweight when you are wearing them, and yet still look good enough to take you from the beach to sightseeing around the city.

The dress I am wearing here totally illustrates this point. This is the Monsun eco-cotton dress which has a loose flowing style and, hurrah! is a dress with pockets. This dress is a dream to wear as it is in a very thin cotton, but it is not see-thru, as some cotton dresses tend to be. The fabric has a slight pleat to it, and a wonderful floral pattern that reminds me of aboriginal art.

This dress is super comfortable to wear, another reason why it is such a great holiday choice. The sleeves are not tight, the dress does not cling, and it has pockets – always a favourite feature for a day dress. The style is best worn loose and flowy, with the hippy-sh, Marrakesh style vibes that Gudrun is famous for, but could be adapted into a slightly more formal look with heels and a smart blazer. When the weather turns cooler, you could add a denim jacket, or even wear this layered over leggings in order to make it earn a place in your wardrobe. The dress really is versatile.

If you visit the Gudrun Sjoden website right now you will be in time for the early bird prices for the brand new Summer ranges, this time inspired by the wonder and design of Japan.

Boden: The New Icons Collection Is Here

Over the last few years Boden has had a reputation for style based on the best of British. Collections have been represented with campaigns that have included British icons, from red telephone boxes and black cabs, to the landmarks of London life. I still have my London print umbrella from a few seasons away, and totally love the iconic nod to British style, both past and present.

But the latest icons collection couldn’t be farther away from rain swept, windy Britain. Taking it’s inspiration from the colours and designs of the Far East, Boden Icons for Summer 2018 is entitled ‘Wonders of the World’. Boden say of the collection:-

Our ICONS collection returns, drawing
inspiration from the Far East. Traditional printing
methods blend with hand-sourced silks and
stop-in-your-tracks details to create timeless
designs you’ll treasure forever.

The collection features trousers, tunics and dresses, and for me it is the stunning dresses that really stand out. Imagine you were raiding the wardrobe of 1960s icons Talitha Pol, Anita Pallenberg or Verushka, or the Ibiza styles sported by Kate Moss, and you would not be far wrong. The styles combine sumptuous prints tassels, ruffles and blooms, as well as sleeves, proper sleeves that are the godsend of anyone over 35. These dresses are beautiful, grown up and full of style and charm.

Many of the dresses have a strong Japanese influence in terms of their kimono styling. The cool, floaty lines make these perfect Summer holiday pieces, they would not take up a lot of precious room in your suitcase, but would certainly make a real statement when worn, either with strappy sandals in the evening, or with flip flops during the day.

My personal favourites from the collection are the Cornelia Kimono style dress in a stunning shade of jade green, and the Cressida tassel dress which has a real luxurious look..

The Perfect Grey Jumper From Cho Fashion And Lifestyle

Once upon a time, my choice of basic and classic clothing was always black. But in recent times, I have developed a love for grey, as a basic, as a neutral and as a stylish classic. Grey jumpers, worn with jeans or a black leather pencil skirt, have become almost a uniform of choice for me, something that I don’t have to think about, and yet know it will look good.

CHO Fashion & Lifestyle is an award-winning, independent designer clothing retailer with a passion for beautiful brands and professional service. It stocks great ranges from the likes of Joules, White Stuff, Hunter Boots, Barbour and many more. They also stock Great Plains, which, in its current range has what could be the perfect grey jumper.

The Great Plains Cashmere boat neck woman’s jumper is a loose fitting, slouchy style sweater that is just perfect to wear with jeans. It is a soft and cosy cashmere blend that makes it very comfortable to wear for things like the football, the school run or to do a bit of shopping, but it can also be dressed up with the addition of a scarf or a statement necklace.

The jumper has a slight boxy shape due to the boat neck and loose fit – think knitted sweatshirt. I chose this in size large as I wanted a casual unfitted look, but if you wanted it to look more fitted, I would suggest you size down as the proportions are generous. The thin knit and shape would make this great for layering over a shirt, and the slight dip to the hemline at the back is a brilliant feature for those who want to cover their bottom. It is shorter at the front, so this could also be layered over a basic top with the underlayer showing as a feature.

This is a jumper that you will be able to wear all year, and wear for years to come.
