Topshop Bullring Launches Personal Shopping Service In Style

Last week saw the launch of a new personal shopping service in Birmingham’s fabulous Topshop store. The store, situated in the Bullring, will now offer a complimentary shopping service that will help you to find that perfect outfit for a special event, or to update your wardrobe with key pieces for the new season, or even enjoy a girlie shopping trip by combining a style session as part of a girl’s day out.

To celebrate the launch of the service, Topshop, in collaboration with Style Birmingham Magazine, hosted a very special event, with invites for bloggers and Style Birmingham readers. The event was designed to introduce the service and a chance to meet the stylists, whilst being entertained by a live DJ. There was also a chance to enjoy a glass of Prosecco and a very special cocktail, along with some canapes created by top Birmingham restaurant Gusto.

You might believe that you don’t need a personal shopper, or that this sort of service is not for you, but the Topshop ladies were very clear on why the service is so useful, particularly if you love clothes, but are not sure how to put outfits together, or find yourself always wearing the same type of outfits. The stylists can answer your questions, and also allow you to maybe be that little more adventurous, with your personal shopper finding you an outfit that you might not necessarily chose for yourself.

The night was a great excuse to shop, with a free goodie bag with every purchase. There was also a chance to take a look around the personal shopping area, with its chic decor, extra large changing rooms and soft lighting – a really glamorous area that has a boudoir feel, just perfect for a shopping trip that also allows you to feel pampered and special.

April Outfit Post #OOTD

A little later than usual, here is my outfit round up for the month of April. April was a busy month of Theatre, Easter and a week in the Welsh sunshine. In terms of weather, the only word I could use is variable – which meant that outfits spanned from woolly jumpers for unseasonably chilly days, to bare legs and short sleeves when the thermometer hit 21 degrees one glorious Sunday.

This post is rather full of vintage and charity shop finds. I love wearing dresses, and lately they seem to be of a variety that looks like it has come straight from ‘Bless this House’ or the wardrobe of Mildred Roper.  I love that vintage offers something that is different from what you will find on the High Street, and that you are not likely to turn up somewhere wearing the same outfit as anyone else. I also love the thrill of finding a bargain at a charity shop, something like the vintage Pierre Cardin heels that cost just £1.99 and are absolutely beautiful, or the 1960s style Chanel cardigan for £2.

As usual, where I can I have linked to the item, or, in some cases, I have linked through to something similar. In general though, a lot of this post is dedicated to getting you to check out your local charity shops. There is such a lot of to be found out there, and you are both helping a charity and the environment too.

What was your favourite item of clothing from the month of April? Did you find yourself a bargain last month?

Review – Rosie Lace Skater Dress from Celuu

Last week I wrote an introductory post about Celuu, a British brand that provides grown up, sophisticated clothing for women who really don’t want to dress as teenagers. (You can read that post here) I promised in that post that I would soon be reviewing one of their pieces myself, and here it is. The dress I chose was the Rosie Lace Skater Dress, a beautiful piece that I think would be perfect for a late Spring/early Summer wedding. This is a dress that makes me feel graceful and elegant, and that is something I don’t say that often.

This is a skater style dress but with a difference. Skater styles are often short and flirty, but as you can see, this is actually more midi length on me (I’m 5ft7inches). The fabric is heavier than you might expect, giving it shape, and the dress is fully lined, which makes it a great choice if you need something more demure and formal, e.g. a church wedding or a Christening.

Keeping with the demure theme, the dress has a v neckline, but doesn’t reveal any cleavage, and the short sleeves are not tight fitting, making this dress comfortable as well as beautiful. The blue shade is deep and vibrant, making it perfect to team with an equally vibrant primary shade like the red I have chosen, or a sunshine yellow.

The lining is a very soft grey, which contrasts well against the blue of the dress, and the addition of knitted jersey for the lining means that the dress is comfortable and very forgiving if you are planning on having a big meal. The dress is also true to size, I actually sized up and so the dress is slightly big, this is generously cut so you can keep to your size.

Celuu are still running their competition to win a new wardrobe from £1000. You can enter by clicking on the link below.
