There are some dresses that you can wear everyday, for any occasion. But there are also dresses that are something a little bit special. The sort of dresses that make you feel a bit like Duchess Kate. These are the dresses that you wear for very special occasions – for weddings, the races, a garden party at Buckingham Palace, or afternoon tea at one of Birmingham’s swishest restaurants. This description perfectly fits the beautiful dress that Jacques Vert sent me to review – the Champagne lace embellished dress.

The champagne lace effect embellished dress is truly exquisite. A shift style dress with layers of scalloped lace, covered with lots of tiny beads, this is a dress that is just perfect for special summer occasions. It fastens with a concealed back zip and has a satin cumberband style waist which also fastens at the back, this time with hook and eye fastenings. The dress length sits just on the knee on me (I’m 5ft7inches), this is my preferred length for a dress, and has a v neckine, but one that is not too low or revealing.

.

The dress feels beautiful to wear. It is quite heavy, due to being lined and also due to the hand stitched beading, but I think this helps the dress to hang properly. The neckline is perfect for me – I have a large bust so sometimes I can feel a little bit ‘serving wench’, but this feels elegant, not too revealing, but still flattering. The dress has a very vintage feels to it, I once had a coffee lace dress that was a 1950s original, and this feels very similar in cut and style. I love that the dress has a timeless elegance – this is not just a dress for one season , I know I will be able to call on this again and again. I kept the accessories to a minimum so as not to overpower the beading, and kept the neutral shade going with patent nude heels.

With my mom at the Laurent Perrier Champagne Bar, Level 25 of The Cube.
I wore this dress for a very special occasion – afternoon tea at the Laurent Perrier Champagne Bar at MPW in The Cube, Birmingham. It felt right for the setting and the activity, and it garnered a lot of positive lovely comments from friends.
This dress is not cheap, it costs £179 and is only available at House of Fraser at the moment, being a sell out on the Jacques Vert site. But this is a dress that you will have and wear for years, and if you do have a special occasion coming up this Summer, I would definitely recommend this as a dress you will feel beautiful in.
