Charlotte Casiraghi’s European glamour

She is the totally gorgeous combination of a very famous and beautiful grandmother and equally gorgeous mother, and now, in her own right, Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco is becoming quite the style icon. Last week saw her sport a stunning new choppy hairdo, very reminiscent of that of Arizona Muse, and a total showstopping of a dress for the 2013 Monaco Rose Ball.  The feathered Chanel number was frothy and pretty and young, totally suiting the glamorous young woman currently entrancing European fashion.

This is not the first time that Charlotte has shown serious style credentials. As a face of Gucci she has all of Frieda Giannini’s great designs at her fingertips and chooses wisely. The blue halter neck dress she wore at the Women in Cinema event was a masterclass in the art of the understatement, fitting perfectly and adorned only with delicate jewellery and an upswept hairdo. Similarly, the black and gold jumpsuit with harem style pants showed a touch of youthful exuberance to the outfit, she is a young woman and chooses to dress like one.

But we can never step too far away from the fact that this is Grace Kelly’s granddaughter, and she has inherited Grace’s fondness for the correct way of dressing like a lady. So we have Chanel jackets in classic black, cute cloche style hats teamed with neat black suits and elements of brocade thrown artfully into the mix.

I really admire the style of Charlotte Casiraghi. She is a young woman having fun with fashion, not without mistakes (those shoes were too dark for the pink Chanel at the Rose Ball after all), but showing a real sense of style that has flown through the Grimaldi generations. I’m looking forward to seeing what else she wears in the future.
