Christmas – the perfect excuse for Glitz and glamour!

One of the things I love most about Christmas is that glitter is not just a fashionable option, it is almost compulsory. You can wear your most sparkly outfits, both in the day, and most definitely at night. Whether it be full on sparkle in glittery dresses, or just a touch through shoes, bags and accessories, Christmas is the time to shine like a star. And, with the days becoming exceedingly dark, now is the time to be proud and dress like a disco ball. Here are some choices I have picked to suit every women who likes to shine!

For the designer diva…

This is a fantastic project D dress by Danni Minogue just evokes 70’s disco. Danni wore this herself on the X Factor, and it is one of my favourite Minogue looks. It is also appropriately named, for this is the Tinsle dress. It is available at Selfridges for £350 and would be perfect for New Years Eve.

For the plus size diva…

Evans has the most amazing party range this season. Sequins. lace, ruffles and feathers are all included in the most stunning range of dresses and tops. Proof that being a size 16+ is no barrier to amazing festive style. This sequined dress also has the 70’s vibe that I love, and the vibrant colour makes a nice change to black.

£39.50 Evans.

This black/gold dress is very reminiscent of Alexander McQueen‘s opulent designs, and could be dressed down with a bikers leather and boots. I could see Rihanna wearing this dress.

For the petite diva…

Many petite diva’s have the same issues as their plus sized sisters when trying to find the right Christmas dress. Luckily, Wallis has a stunning collection of party dresses that won’t break the bank. I love this purple maxi dress from the Wallis Petite collection. Because this is cut specifically for the more petite fashionista, it shouldn’t swamp smaller frames.

For the petite lady who feels swamped by the maxi, this super sexy black dress from Wallis could be the answer. It has a Kylie Minogue feel to it, and would look just amazing with silver accessories.

For the ‘I don’t do dresses’ diva…

Not everyone feels comfortable in a dress. For those divas, Monsoon may be the answer. It has a great range of sparkly skirts and tops that could be dressed down with simpler accompaniments. This glitter sparkle top has an art deco feel to it, and could be paired with denim for a dressed down look, or velvet for real decadence. The Visconti skirt is a real show stopper, and certainly on my Christmas list this year. Imagine it during the day, with a Cashmere sweater! For the budget diva…

F&F at Tesco have an amazing range of party dresses at reasonable prices this year. I love this shift dress that is just £30, but looks so much more expensive.

Another post of call for the budget fashionista must be Peacocks, with it much lusted after Pearl Lowe range. This dress, modelled by Daisy Lowe, in baby pink and silver, is absolutely beautiful, with an amazing vintage feel to it.

Matalan also has a great party range, and for those girls who really only wear trousers, a jumpsuit is just the thing. I love this black effort, just £25 from the Be Beau range. This is crying out for a roller disco!

£25 Matalan

The Online diva…

For those of you who steadfastly avoid the shops at Christmas, there are a myriad of glitter outfits online, to suit every budget and taste. Boohoo.com is a bargain basement site with fashion forward looks at amazing prices. I adore this striped Rochelle maxi dress that I would love to see Agyness Deyn wearing with a pair of Doc Marten boots.

The Saffia mini dress is another bargain at just £20. The blue and silver is such a pretty colour mix, and the style would look amazing on Emma Watson.

At the other end of the style and price spectrum is this amazing 3.1 Phillip Lim dress from Net-a-porter. Imagine Kate Middleton updating the ‘Dynasty Di’  look in this dress!

£975 Net-a-porter

Whatever your style, size or budget, there is Christmas glitter to suit everyone this year. Make sure you put some sparkle in your Christmas wardrobe, you know you won’t regret it!
