Creating a comfy festive bedroom

[affilinet_performance_ad size=468×60]

At this time of year, as the days are cold and we are heading towards the shortest day of the year, a cosy, comfortable, festive bedroom sounds like the perfect sanctuary. A bedroom should always be a refuge from the outside world – a boudoir as well as just a place to sleep, but on those coldest of Wintry nights it also becomes the place we can’t wait to get back to, cuddled up with our loved ones because baby, it really is cold outside.

This year there are just so many lovely touches that can be used to add a few festive touches to our bedrooms, but, first things first. The bed has to be as comfortable as possible and this is usually down to your mattress. We have recently got a new mattress from Fishpools and can honestly say that the difference is incredible, it is firm and yet soft enough to be conducive to the best nights sleep. My choice for the perfect mattress would be one made up from memory foam – it is frankly amazing.

A festive duvet cover is the perfect way to add a festive touch to your bedroom and Asda George has some brilliant (and so affordable designs) that are great for both a children’s bedroom, or a grown ups retreat.  I love the retro 50s design cover with the ice skating pin up girls, as well as the atmospheric home snowy scene.

If you are not looking for a Christmas duvet, Christmas scatter cushions can add a festive touch on a more low key scale, they look great when used with crisp white bedding for a seasonal look that is fun and festive, but can easily be transferred when Christmas is over and done for another year.

A final, pretty touch is a set of fairy lights. I love this set from The White Company that have such an ethereal look to them.
