December was lovely. December was fun. It combined lots of opportunities for going out, to theatres, shows, for a long weekend in Blackpool for Joe’s ninth birthday, but it also had to be juggled against horrendous flu, which made me feel miserable throughout the fun.
In terms of outfits, December is the perfect time to wear sparkle, a time when you can find those pieces you have hidden in the back of the wardrobe, and wear them because you really shouldn’t be outshone by your Christmas tree. I found items like the golden skirt that I’ve had for a few years, but always drag it out again at Christmas, and my New Year’s cape effect dress. I got this in the Boohoo sale last Christmas, but didn’t wear it until the last night of 2017. It was a similar story with the Jersey Boys dress, picked up for £18 at the end of Summer from Oasis, and then kept in the wardrobe for a sparkly occasion.
Christmas saw some new additions to the wardrobe in the form of gifts. This included the tulle Swan Lake style skirt and gold glitter Cuban heels that were both pressies from the hubby this year. The red glitter knit jumper from H&M was a present from my mom, and I really wish I’d have also got it in the silver version as it is so warm and pretty.
The sales are now well and truly under way, so now may be the perfect time to have a hunt around to see if something you loved before Christmas is now available at a lower bargain price – who doesn’t love a bargain? I’ve already grabbed some Topshop earrings and a pair of Dorothy Perkins slippers, plus I’ve got a great Betty Jackson jacket at a charity shop that I will share soon in a charity shop haul post.
