Fashion-mommy has just had a glimpse of the new season collection from Dorothy Perkins, and it is absolutely fantastic. This collection has a clear retro feel to it, with vintage print dresses, 1970s style skirts, and a range of shoes and bags that you would normally have to trawl exclusive vintage shops to find. There are references to the 1950s, 60s and 70s, with the best looks from each of those decades represented. I loved the whole collection, but here are a few looks I have put together to showcase my favourite pieces.
Look 1 Peggy Sue Got Married.
This is a truly amazing cotton dress with a kitsch cute all over print. The straw clutch bag could’ve been found after a search in grannies chest, whilst the wedges are the most beautiful shade of china blue and sunshine yellow. Just add some heart-shaped sunglasses and a ponytail and you’ll be ready to go.
Look 2 – 1960s bride at Chelsea Register Office
This look reminds me of the sort of dress that all those swinging sixties brides, from Sharon Tate to Sandie Shaw, wore during that most daring of decades. The gorgeous yellow dress would be perfect for most occasions, and I would add a totally contrasting clutch bag to emphasis the colour pop of the outfit. Shoes are optional, of course!
Look 3 – 1970s – Cybil Shepherd in Taxi driver.
The 70s are big news this season, and Dorothy Perkins has a wide range of a line skirts, print dresses and wedge shoes that make the look totally wearable for every day. I love this a line denim skirt with the button thru detail, and I think it would look perfect with this flower print shirt, would could be tied at the waist. Wear it with the ultimate 1970s shoe, the woven wedge.
Look 4 – Perfect for Kristen Stewart!
This outfit is bang up to date, and would be perfect for Kristen Stewart. The leather hot pants are in a totally mouth-watering shade of brown, and paired with the crochet jumper, very high heels and suede clutch, they make a perfect outfit for a hot date with any Robert Pattinson clone!
