Fashion-Mommy Loves – A review of July Style.

July was the month that started with two weddings that encompassed a royal wedding and a rock and roll wedding. It was the month that a wedding dress was put on public display to the delight of millions of fashionistas and romantics. And it was the month that ended with another royal wedding. In between we had a fashion fest from Emma Watson , and saw the shocking death of fashion icon Amy Winehouse. Here are all the highlights of a busy but interesting month.

Brides, Brides, Brides

Kate Moss looked the epitome of dishevelled, boho elegance in her 1920s inspired gown by John Galliano as she tied the knot with her rocker, Jamie Hince. Photographer Terry Richardson got in trouble for publishing intimate shots of the evening celebrations, including the guests hitting the dance floor.

A more controversial wedding was that of Charlene Wittstock to Prince Albert of Monaco. It was reported that the bride tried to flee before the wedding after rumours of yet more illegitimate children surfaced, but whatever the truth, the bride was simply breathtaking in her Armani Prive dress.

‘Yesterday saw Britain’s second royal wedding of the year (honestly they’re like buses, you wait for years for one, and then two come along!) when Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Phillips married rugby star Mike Tindall. She wore a gorgeous and elegant dress by Stewart Parvin that was reputed to have been bought off the peg. No bridesmaid upstaging on this occasion, but Maid of Honour Dolly Maude did like supremely chic in her shift dress.

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge had another fantastic month of style as she wowed the US on her 3 day tour. She wore a faultless array of outfits, with my pick being the glorious McQueen evening gown at the Bafta Brits dinner. She outshone all the Hollywood royalty on display, including a flesh flashing JLo.

There were many stylish looks on display this month. Emma Watson shown just how much she has grown up since she started playing Hermione in a range of stunning frocks. My favourite was the exquisite Oscar De La Renta gown that she wore for the UK premiere, but I also loved the BottegaVeneta brown linen and satin dress that did split opinions. Interestingly, Sarah Jessica Parker, who was another best dressed of the month for me, wore the same dress as part of her shoot for the August issue of US Vogue, and then wore another Oscar De La Renta dress for the Harry Potter Premiere.

Also looking good this month was the fabulous Anne Hathaway, who looked ethereal in Valentino at the White Fairy Tale Love Ball in Paris. Olivia Palermo attended this event, and also looked amazing wearing a silver pleated empire line dress from Valentino. I also think Adele looked really stylish in her 1960s style outfit at the I-Tunes festival.

Other stylish fashionistas catching the eye this month were Katie Cassidy in Herve Leger. Now, I am usually so over Herve Leger bodycon, but this tangerine shade looks so hot on the Gossip Girl. I also loved Jennifer Aniston stepping away from the little black dress for silver Valentino at the Horrible Bosses premiere. Justin is obviously a good influence on her oh so boring wardrobe. Hilary Swank showed why yellow is one of my favourite colours in her pretty little sundress, whilst Victoria Beckham looked simply beautiful in her red maxi dress just days before the birth of Harper Seven. I also loved Kate Moss’s chic return from honeymoon looks, and who could resist the demure Camille Belle in her floral Miu Miu dress?

Amy Winehouse’s death was a shocking and tragic end to a life that had seemed to have so much promise. Although Amy is most likely to be remembered for her untimely demise, fashion fans will always remember the unique and super stylish Amy who created a much copied style all of her own. Her are a few of my favourite pictures of my favourite singer. RIP Amy. Gone, but never to be forgotten.
