Fashion World Review – Lace Skater Dress

It’s the final stretch, I have only 7 days left of being in the flirty thirties and then I officially enter the naughty forties. I have to say it’s not something I entirely relish. I loved my thirties far more than my twenties, it’s the decade that saw me get married, become a mom, reach a pinnacle in one career, and then change it for something entirely different. It saw me continue to travel, interview some famous people, achieve many things from the bucket list and basically have a lot of fabulous times that I will never, ever forget. But life supposedly begins at forty, and so I’m ready to embrace the new decade with a lot of lovely fashion reviews. I’m starting with, you’ve guessed it, a dress.

The dress in question is an absolute beauty. The Lace Skater dress from Fashion World is something that is slightly removed from my dress comfort zone – namely because it is a skater dress, and I usually opt for straight, pencil skirt shapes. I adore pink, but it is not a colour I usually choose – I tend to be less adventurous and stick to less showy shades. But this dress was something that I fell in love with at first glance, and so when Fashion World offered me the chance to review something from their fabulous (and huge) website, this was the dress for me!

DSCN7610[1]I love this dress so much. It is the easiest thing in the world to wear as it is just so comfortable. It has no zips or fastenings, you literally pull it on over your head and voila, you’re ready to go. The lace is so pretty, but not revealing, with a full underskirt style lining and a sweetheart style lining under the bodice. The dress is also super stretchy, with an hidden, elasticated panel on the back of the waistband. I loved that it sat prettily just on the knee, my fave length, and was definitely the sort of dress perfect for swirling and twirling in, which makes it the perfect choice for any summer party.

DSCN7604[1]I think this dress is so pretty, it doesn’t really need much in the way of accessories. I just added Vivienne Westwood Melissa shoes and a vintage handbag. I wore this dress to a birthday party on Friday night where a friend was celebrating turning 30 (grrrr!) and I really enjoyed wearing it – that shade of hot pink makes it such a fun dress. I have also wore it for a night at the theatre with a black blazer over it, and that look seemed to work too.

With huge thanks to Jay Tavernor at Fashion World for the wonderful dress.
