Good News – snacking can be healthy too.

We often hear about how snacking in between meals can be an unhealthy choice. Choose the wrong foods, and this grazing can lead to weight gain, which, in turn, can also lead to health problems, lack of energy and general lethargy.

But snacking can also be really beneficial as an energy boost if you choose the right snacks. Video Conferencing provider gotomeeting have recently been discussing this very issue, and have put together a great infographic that details the snacks that really do help if you are looking for an energy boost, to feel fuller for longer and to actually improve your moods. And while some of the ideas are of the seed variety, which may seem a poor substitute for reaching for the Mars Bar, there are some snacks that are real delicious treats including hummus and crackers, delicious fruit smoothies and Turkey roll ups – which consist of turkey, breadsticks and a choice of mustard or mango chutney. I think they sound delicious.

You can read the article that accompanies the infographic here

and get more information on the fabulous snack and recipe ideas. This could mean no more reaching for the chocolate and crisps when you get the mid afternoon munchies, and, more importantly, may help you to avoid the instant sugar energy rush that disappears almost as soon as it arrives.

What snacks do you eat during your working day?

I’m not much of a snacker (although you wouldn’t think it to look at me!). I usually like a snack on a Saturday evening or to take to the cinema. Usually nuts or berries.
I like the infographic, lots of good info on why the snack is a boost.

I’m normally pretty OK when I’m at work and just eat what I’ve brought for lunch. But i do have to admit occasionally I crack and pop to the shop for chocolate, might be a good idea to keep something in my drawer for those days. Will look into your suggestions.
    Thanks for sharing
