Idealo Spring Dress challenge

A few weeks ago an interesting email popped into the fashion-mommy inbox. It  came from online comparison site Idealo and it asked the question would I be interested in taking part in the Idealo Spring Dress Challenge?  As I live in dresses, rarely wearing anything else, I wanted to find out more.

The premise was simple, selected bloggers were asked to search the net for a dress under £100 that they really liked, and then test drive the dress in order to produce a review, producing  a comprehensive list of the best Spring dresses around. Idealo would supply the dress of your choice – the blogger had the really difficult task of wearing it! Obviously, this was a challenge I was happy to take on.

I decided that I wanted to find a really wearable dress that could take me from daytime to evening. It needed to be both flattering and comfortable, something that I could add heels to and wear for a smart occasion, but would also allow me to chase after a rather active three-year old who is often faster than Usain Bolt over the laminated floor dash.

The dress I chose came from Designer at Debenhams collection, and more specifically, from Betty Jackson Black. I’m a huge fan of Betty Jackson, and find her collection for Debenhams often taking up space in my wardrobe. This particular dress seemed to match all my criteria.

The dress in question is the Purple Chrysanthemum  printed jersey dress. The first thing I love about this dress is that it is jersey, which means it is ultra flattering, it moves when you move rather than against you, and it stretches – allowing you to have that  yummy pudding after a rather big lunch. I loved the elastication at the waistband which gave this dress real shape, whilst the pockets added a 1950s feel to the dress. And then there is the print. This dress is just so pretty in real life, the flowers add a real springlike edge to the dress that contrasts neatly against the deep purple.

I absolutely love this dress and find it really easy to wear. The jersey is slightly thicker than I expected which made it more flattering – it didn’t cling to ‘lumps and bumps’. This is a dress I would definitely recommend. I’ve dressed it up with heeled Mary Janes, but tomorrow I will be wearing it with loose hair, sandals and a straw basket to give it a more dressed down, daytime look.

With thanks to the Idealo team for inviting me to be part of the Spring dress challenge.
