Paloma, Joss and Ellie light up Hootenanny
My traditional end to a year, now that we have a small child, is the same every year. We go out early, to dine or visit family, and then get back home, pour the fizz and settle down to the glamour and entertainment that is Jools Holland’s Hootenanny. As I have said, it is traditional!
This year was a vintage episode in both the glamour and the music stakes, with Paloma Faith being my star turn, especially when she turned in a tongue in cheek performance of ‘River Deep Mountain Eye’ complete with Tina Turner style dance moves and backing singers. Her ruby glitter dress was just gorgeous and so appropriate for a sparkling night of music and fashion.
Joss Stone returned to remind us what an amazing soul voice she has, and also opted for the slinkiest of glamour in beaded sheath dresses, although her trademark hippie bare feet were still part of the look.
And then there was Ellie Goulding, one of my fave singers at present. She opted for a cool androgynous tuxedo look, but added a showstopping chainmail vest to the mix to add to the wow factor.
And my own New Year’s outfit? Well, it was less shimmering than Joss’s, longer than Paloma’s and more girlie than Ellie’s, but I was still pretty pleased with it. It was made up from Christmas pressies from the hubby, and bridesmaids shoes I last wore four years ago and suddenly rediscovered.
Happy New Year – here’s to a great 2015.

I am really loving the art deco dresses I’m seeing everywhere at the moment. Paloma Faith was hilarious in that clip. Her dress was fabulous, and wow at those pins! If I jiggled around in heels that high I would break my ankle 😀
My NYE outfit was jeans and a tshirt as we decided to go to the fair last night.
Happy New Year!
