Planning A Romantic Getaway This Winter

Whether you are in the first blooms of love in a new relationship, or have been married for the past twenty years and sometimes feel like a pair of old slippers, a romantic break away where you can renew all those romantic feelings is definitely something that should b indulged in every now and again. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, now could be a perfect time to book a romantic retreat with no children anywhere in sight!

If you are planning on booking romantic breaks with a loved one for Valentine’s Day you really do want everything to be perfect. With that in mind, I have put down some tips that should ensure you get everything you want from your romantic retreat.

Chose your location

Ideally, you want to stay somewhere that is romantic, and therefore busy destinations full of crowds will not be the order of the day. Look for somewhere remote and idyllic, whether it be a seaside cottage, a woodland lodge or a secluded hotel or guest house that only has a few rooms.

Make a checklist of things you would like in your retreat – a balcony, a log fire, a four poster bed. Remember it is your ideal, so look for what you really want, even if it is only for a couple of days.

What to take

If your idea of a romantic retreat is to really retreat, then you might want to pack the car keys away once you arrive. If this is the case, make sure you take everything with you for your escape, good food, a bottle of decent Champagne, some romantic DVDs or books for you to enjoy in bliss.

Pack your clothes according to the weather and what you plan to do, if romantic walks are your thing, don’t forget some walking boots and an umbrella – it is Britain after all.

Check out the area

If you actually want to venture out, or maybe go out for a romantic meal for Valentine’s Day, you should check out the area via some online reviews first. See what there is to do, which restaurants are recommended and maybe make a booking rather than turning up on spec, which may result in disappointment. This is particularly true if you are hoping to visit a restaurant with high ratings, good word of mouth or a highly coveted Michelin star.

Enjoy your break!
