Reviewed – Boohoo Samantha Lace Mid Sleeve Top

Earlier this month I was excited to announce the launch of the first plus size range from Boohoo.com.(You can read that piece here.) The range had all the hallmarks of the regular Boohoo range – fashion forward looks that are also reasonably priced, but these pieces came in sizes up to size 24, adding another option to plus size dressing.

Boohoo have very kindly sent me some pieces from the range to review, and the first piece I have worn is the ‘Samantha Lace Mid Sleeve top’. This was a top that took my eye for many reasons. I loved the mid sleeves, perfect for covering the top of my arms and also a warmer options for Christmas nights out. The colour and cut looked great from the image on the website, so I was really looking forward to seeing how this would translate ‘in the flesh’.

I totally loved this top, which has a Pink Clove label. It is perfect for the Christmas season, and for nights out long afterwards. It could also be seriously stylish under a black trouser suit for a look that would be great for the office and boardroom. The material is stretchy and comfortable to wear, with that blue shade a deep Sapphire that just pops. There is a slight sheen to the fabric that makes it look very dressy, but this would easily work with your jeans too. I love the fact that the length is slightly longer – this avoids my problem area completely, covering my tummy. Some evening tops finish noticeable shorter, leaving a sort of Winnie the Pooh situation with the stomach as you keep pulling the top down, there are no such problems with this top.

I wore this for a family meal for Joe’s 5th birthday and felt it was just right for the occasion. I teamed it with a stretchy pencil skirt and suede shoe-boots.  You could wear a choker style necklace with the slashed neckline, but I opted for a strand of vintage pearls instead and felt these were just right.
