Reviewed – Scooby Doo Adventures

I literally grew up on a diet of Scooby Doo! It was my favourite cartoon by an absolute mile, with my fave characters a toss-up between that loveable Great Dane and the gorgeous Daphne. In recent years the classic cartoons have been given a new lease of life, first through the feature film versions, and then with Mystery incorporated, which updated the 60s groovy vibes with a more Millennium feel. This was  perfect for the more streetwise modern-day kids, but left us fans of the original feeling a little cold, and was more than a little frightening for little ones like my four-year old Joe.

So thank goodness for a new concept in Scooby Doo! – a puppet movie! From Hanna Barbara and Warner Bros comes ‘Scooby Doo ! Adventures – The Mystery Map’  a cute, original puppet movie that your youngsters are just going to adore. Portraying all your fave Scooby Doo characters in adorable puppet form, the film follows our favourite ghost-busting sleuths as they follow the trail and clues that they hope will lead to the lost treasure of Pirate Gnarlybeard.

Joe loved this film. His favourite part involved a giant parrot that chased the accident prone Shaggy around a rather spooky lighthouse. Scooby Doo! was another fave, especially when he transformed into a rather large bowling ball after scoffing those Scooby snacks. From an adults point of view, this is a great film to watch with your little ones on cold afternoons- it is long enough to hold the attention without your child becoming bored. In fact, Joe watched it a second time really quickly, he had enjoyed it so much.

Scooby Doo! Adventures – The Mystery Map would make a great stocking filler this Christmas. It is available at Amazon for just £7 at the moment – a great price for a lovely little film. Just be warned parents – you may get a little tired of watching it…
