Reviewed: Treetop Adventure Golf, Birmingham

In recent times, good old crazy golf has had an upgrade. These days it’s less about a quick round of golf by the seaside, and more about a complete experience, with food, cocktails and amazing courses that challenge, excite and entertain. The new courses are also often indoors, making them a great way to escape the weather, even during what is supposed to be ‘Great British Summer’.

Treetop Adventure Golf Birmingham opened just over a month ago, and is already proving to be very popular (even on a Monday afternoon judging by the queue outside.) It is situated in the Bullring shopping centre, which means it can be a great fun interlude during a day of shopping. I went there yesterday with my twelve year old Joe, and we were both really impressed by all aspects of the place, and will definitely be returning for a second round.

The place looks fantastic, it is hard to believe that the rainforest/Aztec course was once the fashion store Forever 21. There are two mini courses, both with 18 holes, and at the end there is also a challenge on the 19th hole where you can win tickets to return. The two courses are the Tropical Trail and the Ancient Explorer, and you can either pay to do one, or both courses. Both are wonderfully interactive, and will make fun of you if your shot is off, whilst also giving praise if you manage a hole in one.

The beauty of Treetop Adventure golf is that it is great fun for all the family. The holes differ in severity, but really it is more about the fact that this is something you can do as a family, or as a group of friends. There is a system which suggests just 6 shots at each hole, and that if you still haven’t managed to finish your shot, you score 7 and move onto the next hole. This avoids to much waiting around for the next group.

Covid restrictions are in place, with markers on the floor showing where you should wait for your turn if a group is on the hole. Currently masks are also required except for exemptions. Staff are also cleaning areas regularly and there is a one way system in and out of the attraction.

There is a lovely seated area with a real rainforest vibe, with a good selection of cocktails and mocktails. We sampled some as we took a break between the two courses and I must say they were great and looked appropriate to the theme.

I would highly recommend Treetop Adventure Golf. The place looks amazing, the experience is a lot of fun, and it is suitable whatever the weather. You can walk in, but with school holidays approaching this is going to be popular, so I would suggest you look at booking. Prices start from £9.50 for one course.
