Selfridges launch ‘Work it’ initiative
Last week Selfridges Birmingham held an event to launch its new ‘Work-it’ initiative. This is a cool programme which is dedicated to changing the way we spend our working lunchtimes. No more sitting at a desk with a limp sandwich trying to catch up on emails, instead, ‘Work-it’ is dedicated to getting you up, active and learning something new, with a few pampering treats along the way.
For too many people, a lunch break is anything but. Selfridges are challenging you to do something different with your lunchtimes so that they actually become ‘me time.’The Bullring- based store has put together a programme of activities that started on Monday and will continue until Sunday 31st May. They will take place during the week, between noon and 2pm,and are 30-minute bite-sized activities that included everything from learning Spanish, Laughing Yoga, Self-Defence, Salsa classes, magic lessons and also fashion and beauty top tips by some of the industries experts in a series of short tutorials. If you can’t get away from your desk at lunchtime, there are a host of activities taking place from 6pm onwards.
The Birmingham launch was lovely, with Champagne and the most exquisitely pretty meringues that you almost didn’t want to eat (I did say almost, I had a violet one and it was just delicious). There was an opportunity to win a bag full of beauty goodies and samples, and then time to try some of the free counter treatments that were on offer from brands like Blink, Charlotte Tilbury, Kiehls and Dermalogica.

Love the work-it idea. I’m guilty of lazy lunch breaks 😉

I think it is fab if you are in the city and can do something fun and productive on the lunch break.

This sounds great, I really like the idea behind it. I’d rather do anything than sit in the back room staring at a blank wall while I eat.

I really like the idea behind this, would love to learn new things or do something different with my lunch breaks. Fortunately I like so close to home I can pop home which is a nice change of scenery 🙂 xx

I wish I lived closer maybe I could get a ticket or two. For my lunch me and a colleague make a point of leaving our desks and having lunch somewhere else. We both love cooking so we always competing who would bring the healthiest and tastiest lol
