Style Icons 2012 – The Duchess of Cambridge

In her first full year as a royal, Kate has shown she has all the style credentials to make her the natural heir to Princess Diana as the most stylish and glamorous royal lady. She has kept to that tried and tested formula of mixing High Street finds with designer picks to create a wardrobe that is simply perfect for her role.

It has been exciting this year to see Kate wearing outfits from Alexander McQueen, Prabal Gurung, Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders and Jenny Packham. But she looked just as fabulous wearing a hand-me-down Reiss dress that had previously been worn by her mother Carole. And, of course, she showed that she will continue to recycle favourite outfits, making sure everything has a place in the wardrobe and earns its keep.

Favourite outfits this year? I personally loved the teal Jenny Packham lace evening gown, the off white Roland Mouret number, and all of her Jubilee outfits. But, for me, every look was perfect, and I can’t wait to see what Kate does with maternity fashion, which is sure to be another triumph for the Duchess of Style.
