Bullring Bloggers Christmas event

Last week saw the annual gathering of Bullring Bloggers, getting together to enjoy cocktails and nibbles whilst learning more about some of the Bullring’s fab brands and their latest collections. This year the gathering was small and intimate, with experts from Oasis, Topshop and Selfridges talking about personalisation, Christmas pressies and personal shopping.

Before chatting to the experts there was opportunity to try food from Chi Kitchen, which has recently opened an eaterie in Debenhams in the Bullring, and from Thai restaurant Chaophraya, which is based on Spiceal Street. the Chicken and Lemongrass satay skewers were just amazing, and there were also veggie options and Sushi. There were also some stunning cocktails that had the most amazing apple swan creations as decoration, and packed a fairly lethal kick too.

Danni, who is the personal stylist for Oasis was the first to show us a little of the seasonal offering from the store. Oasis in the Bullring now offers both personal styling, and personal styling parties where you can gather with a few friends and let Danni style you. For Winter 2016, there is a good mixture of warm knitwear and seasonal sparkles. with cool jackets that can be layered over a cami and jeans. The matcht-matchy trend is also not going away, but now it has a Christmas feel due to lots of sparkle and embellishments.

Next up was Selfridges, with beauty expert Rose Gallagher offering insight into this year’s celestial theme and the personalisation the store offers. The fabulous Alphabet bags star sign cosmetic bags were much admired, as were the fabulous Christmas decorations that can be filled with chocolates and have a name added to them. There were also the ever popular personalised jars of Nutella, and an uber cute personalised Mr Men print. All personalisation is done in store and just makes a perfect gift that little bit more perfect (not sure that actually works in English, but you know what I mean!)

Kiko Milano cosmetics have some really gorgeous colours this season that will be just right for all those parties. The eye shadows in particular are pearly, iridescent and super pretty. Kiko Milano products are really affordable, with eye shadows coming in at about £7, and would make great Christmas gifts and stocking fillers.

The final port of call was a chat with the lovely Charlotte who is the personal shopper and stylist for the shiny new Bullring Topshop store. Topshop have all kinds of greatness going on in Birmingham this Christmas, including new ranges that seem to be hitting the store every few days, and great ideas for Christmas gift boxes for those men who have no idea what to buy their other half.  I fell totally in love with the Bah Humbug bag and went straight out and got it, have been using it at Christmas parties for the past week and have to say what a total bargain it was!

DSCN9955Bullring really is a one stop shop for all those Christmas gifts, whether it be a last minute present, or, heaven forbid, if you leave it all to the last minute. With late night opening until 10pm and plenty of parking and eateries, it should take the stress out of shopping.

With thanks to Bullring and Nicki Horesh of Frank PR for the fab evening.

The Bullring Bloggers Christmas event

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the second Bullring blogger event of the year, held in the hospitality suite of the iconic shopping venue. The Bullring bloggers events are always lovely, a chance to catch up with some of my favourite bloggers, a showcase for some fabulous fashion, beauty and food brands, and, if your time permits, a chance for a little bit of pampering. It was a wonderful way to start the Christmas celebrations.

This event was a great showcase for many of the brands and, in particular, the personalised gifts stocked by Selfridges this Christmas. The fabulous fun pots of personalised Nutella, beautiful necklaces from Tatty Devine, and, my personal favourite, the fairytale cosmetic bags from Alphabet bags, all received admiring looks from the many bloggers in attendance.

Benefit were offering make up, creating smokey eyes and glossy lips, as well as showcasing their gorgeous Christmas gift sets. Umberto Giannini were creating beehives and glamorous ‘big hair’ looks straight from the era of Bardot and Sophia Loren, using the famous ‘backcomb in a bottle’.

Of course, there was also food and drink. The drinks were served in cute little milk bottles, whilst the centre-piece of the Christmas themed buffet was a gorgeous cookie from Millie’s, and scrummy chocolates from Hotel Chocolat.

A truly lovely night!

Huge thanks once again to Emma Roberts and the team from Bullring for the invitation and the lovely goodie bag.

Smiggle opens in the Bullring

Last week I was invited to the opening of a fabulous new store in Birmingham’s Bullring. Smiggle is a stationery store that promises to bring fun, choice and must have pieces to any school bag. (think Paperchase with a younger target audience). The store is sure to be a haven for youngsters and teens, as well as a nostalgia trip for any adults who used to collect rubbers and key rings when they were younger.

DSCN0227[1]Smiggle is an Australian company that has now opened 16 stores across the UK in 2014. The stores change the stock every six weeks, so there is always something new to see, making it a destination that will be on the must visit list for many in 2015. The shelves are colour coordinated, keeping all items of the same colour together. This makes the shopping experience much simpler – if you are purple mad – just head to the purple section. Larger Smiggle stores have an area for doodling and scribbling that will help keep your youngsters occupied while you shop.

A red carpet was laid out on Thursday, and visitors were given a tour of the shop. We were all presented with Smiggle’s current best seller, the amazing advent calendar that is stuffed full with stationery treats. This made Joe a very happy little boy when I got home. (Find out how to get yours here.)

The red carpet.

I think Smiggle is a fabulous addition to the Bullring because there is no where quite like it in Birmingham at the current time. I think it will be very popular for stocking fillers and presents as we move towards Christmas – there are just so many lovely things that would make someone very happy on Christmas Day. I have my eye on some football related products for Joe and am looking forward to paying another visit very soon.

*With thanks to Smiggle and Georgina Maley from Small Man Media for the invitation.
