Sort your jeans with Eto Jeans

How many pairs of jeans would you say the average man owns? I’m guessing that the number would run into double figures for most men, although many polls say that you really only need to own four pairs in a couple of different styles and colours. I’m not sure about that, I think jeans are one of those clothing items that people tend to find a style and stick to it, but then buy it in triplicate, but these days there are so many great designs, in a range of colours that exceed blue, black and (shudders) white. You might just be limiting your wardrobe just a little too much if you stick to four pairs.

Eto Jeans have every style and colour when it comes to great denim. They pride themselves on their affordability and so have pairs of jeans that start at just £19.99. There are all different washes, from stonewash, darkwash, black and grey styles, combat styles with pockets on the knees and sides, cuffed fits that look great in summer with Toms and Vans, and even, with one eye firmly towards Summer on what is a lovely warm day, denim shorts that are crying out for a plain white t-shirt and havaianas.

Denim is no longer just a casual, weekend option. With this in mind, there are also styles that will work well worn with shirts and blazers for a more stylish evening look. I love the slim fit black stretch jeans featured below, I think these would be brilliant for both day and night wear as they could look smart with a shirt or slimfit polo shirt, or more casual with a t-shirt.

How many pairs of jeans do you own – what is your denim style?

Trilogy at John Lewis Birmingham

Last month I wrote about my evening spent with John Lewis Birmingham, finding out about the Loved and Found department that is such an amazing addition to the John Lewis brand. This post is almost a second part to Loved and Found, with the focus being on the Trilogy department that is concerned with denim, and the perfect companion pieces to wear with jeans. Trilogy promises to find you the perfect pair of jeans within three tries, hence the name, and I can honestly say  they found mine on the first attempt, along with some great pieces to ensure that opting for denim is no longer just a casual, dressed down option.

Trilogy stock most high end denim labels, from Paige Denim, AG, J Brand to DL 1961. There also have a range of tops, jackets, lumberjack style shirts and even chic coats from the likes of Graham and Spencer, American Vintage, Helene Berman and Joie. The idea is that you can put together a denim wardrobe that is both smart and casual, and is ultimately very wearable. The Trilogy team put together some key looks and modeled them for us, it was safe to say that, even someone like me, who would prefer a dress or skirt to a pair of jeans, was totally won over by just how elegant and chic the looks were.

DSCN9783I loved the long, American Vintage coat that featured in the last look so much that I had to try it on over my dress – I think it shows just how versatile the piece is.

Trilogy promised to find me my perfect pair of jeans in three attempts, but, as I already mentioned, they did this in one. I like straight to skinny jeans (although the team are telling me that skinny are definitely on the way out.), and prefer a dark indigo denim rather than black of any light wash. I find jeans that fit on the bottom tend to be too big on the hips and waist, but the Paige Denim jeans that were chosen for me were absolutely perfect and fitted like a dream. I teamed then with a Velvet by Graham and Spencer blouse that I had totally fell in love with from a first glance.

DSCN9793I loved my experience with Trilogy, it really takes all the hard work out of trying to find the perfect jeans that you will wear forever. I also came away with better knowledge of how often I should be washing my jeans to preserve the colour (about every 14 wears girls and boys – use the freezer to kill bacteria).

With huge thanks to Trilogy at John Lewis, Grand Central for the invitation.

Packing for an Easter break

We finally break up for Easter tomorrow, and the following day, we are heading for a welcome Easter break in beautiful Wales. It is a trip that will be dominated with the great outdoors, be it the hills and mountains of Snowdonia, or the beaches of Barmouth and Aberdovey. I am totally looking forward to it, but with the weather currently so changeable (we had hail yesterday for goodness sake) what to pack is a little tricky. The weather forecasts are suggesting that light rain showers will be occurring throughout the weekend, and so I’m guessing that I will be living in jeans.

My usual Welsh Wardrobe

Luckily I have some great new jeans for the trip, along with some other bits and pieces that have all been picked up from Asda. Asda have been working on a campaign to get us looking at their #geniusjeans and they very kindly allowed me to pick up some jeans from their extensive range. I also found a few other pieces from their current range that will also be making it’s way into my suitcase.

I chose a pair of the Wonderfit jeans, which I really think should be called the ‘wonderful’ jeans, they are such a fabulous thing to wear. The jeans are designed to work with your body, stretching and growing as they need to, and so feel comfortable to wear as well as looking great. I love the fact that they don’t keep riding down to show the waistband of your pants, and there is no danger of a muffin top as they fit so snugly, without being tight.

Asda George are in the middle of a great sale, and so I was also able to pick up a couple of tops that will look great with the jeans, and also be fine for mixing and matching with other trousers and coloured skinnies. I love stripes in Spring, it’s always my season for calling on nautical patterns, and I don’t think you can ever really go wrong when opting for the classic, clean lines of a white top.

And I finally got my skirt! I loved this skirt which I featured in a previous post, so much, that I had to get it. I’m waiting for the summer to wear it with sandals and a camisole, but think it would look great with my fluffy cream jumper as a pretty outfit for Easter Sunday lunch.

Asda have a fabulous selection of pretty, embellished flat shoes in store at the moment, with these gold beauties being my absolute faves. I’m hoping that some dry weather will allow me to wear them over my holiday, even with, dare I mention it…bare legs! Maybe that is pushing it a little bit, but I do think they will look great with the Wonderfit jeans.

Are you heading off this Bank Holiday – what will you be packing?
