It’s hat week at Newlife!

Children’s charity Newlife is launching a very special initiative starting from tomorrow.  Called ‘Hat Week’ . anyone buying  a hat could be in with a chance of winning a winter wardrobe of goodies at the Newlife SuperStore in Cannock.

Thanks to generous retail donors, Newlife has received a bumper batch of new hats and is now offering the opportunity for anyone buying a hat, next week, to be entered into a free draw to complete their winter wardrobe. This is fabulous for fashionista’s, for has the two Kate’s (the Duchess and Moss of course!) have shown, no winter wardrobe is complete without least one fabulous tifter.

The promotion will last for the whole week beginning on Monday 3rd October. One lucky hat-purchasing winner will be drawn at the end of the week, to receive a £100 voucher for SuperStore items from a range of coats, boots, shoes and accessories to add to their winter wardrobe.

The fun doesn’t end there. There is the opportunity to be a model and enter yourself in the ‘best hat wearer’ competitions on Facebook, where people can upload photos of themselves wearing hats in three categories: best female, best male and best child wearer. These will be judged and one person from each category will win a £25 Newlife voucher. To enter simply upload your picture onto the Newlife SuperStore Facebook page; log on to Facebook at www.facebook.com/newlifesuperstore and snap/share your photo on the wall.

I love this idea,  and think yet again Newlife are thinking outside the (hat)box when it comes to initiatives to raise money for charity. Newlife is the UK’s leading children’s disability charity specialising in support to aid children affected by all disabilities.  In addition to funding equipment grants and research, the charity also offers support services operated by specially trained nurses and campaigns for a fairer deal for children to obtain the essential equipment and services they deserve.  The charity needs over £100,000 a month to provide essential equipment, such as wheelchairs, beds, walking frames, seating, safety equipment and communication aids, to disabled children nationwide.

Newlife CEO, the fabulous Sheila Brown, says: “This is a great way to get a bargain hat and a chance to win clothes plus your purchase will help disabled children as the profits from the Newlife SuperStore sales go to Newlife Foundation for disabled children.”

Newlife and Schuh team up again for ‘Sell your Soles’.

Do you remember last year when I told you all about the collaboration between Schuh and Newlife, the leading children’s disability charity? To recap, you could take your old shoes into the Sunderland branch of Schuh, who would exchange them for a £10 voucher. The old shoes were then donated to Newlife, who would either sell them or recycle them to raise much needed funds for life saving equipment and support for sick and terminally ill children across the Uk.

The scheme proved to be amazingly successful, with 3,000 pairs of shoes being donated in a four week period. So, the scheme is now being rolled out again and this time stores in more areas are involved. From 21st May to 26th June you can take your old shoes into Schuh branches inAberdeen, Stirling, Belfast, Peterborough, Cheltenham and the Eldon Square Branch in Newcastle.

There is no limit to how many pairs of shoes you can donate, although only one voucher can be used per purchase over £30. The voucher is redeemable until 21st August, so you have plenty of time to treat yourself once you have cleared out all those old, unloved and unworn shoes.

Newlife CEO Sheila Brown, OBE, urged shoppers to step lively before the offer ends. She said: “Last year’s promotion raised valuable funds for the charity, helping to fund vital equipment grants for families in need. Overall last year Newlife awarded £1.2million in grants to more than 15,500 children across the UK but we are aware that we must top that in the coming months if we are to meet increased demand. Schuh’s generous support is integral to our ability to do this.

“Enquiries to our Nurse helpline shot up by a staggering 86 per cent in the first eight weeks of this financial year, compared with the same period in 2010. We have an average of 300 calls a week, with thousands more hits on the charity’s website www.newlifecharity.co.uk

She added: “The equipment we provide isn’t necessarily the Rolls Royce of its type; often it is just the basic model to meet complex needs. Without Newlife – and your help – our most vulnerable children won’t even be getting access to the basics.”

So, what are you waiting for? Get sorting through your shoe clutter and get down to Schuh pronto. To wet your appetite, have a look at the gorgeous shoes you could be spending your voucher on.

Newlife fight the recession with £1 bargains

My favourite charity organisation Newlife are spoiling us again. They have added a purse friendly range of items that cost just£1 to their ‘Newlife at Home’ store. There are £1 items in their menswear, womenswear and childrenswear, along with small items for the home.  In addition, a £1 range of shoes and bags is soon to be added.

Newlife Operations Director, Colin Brown, says: “We are delighted to bring £1 clothing and gifts to our customers who can now get even more for their money at Newlife. As well as clothes for both adults and children, people can purchase other items such as beauty products, games and school equipment to name a few.”

When you think about it, £1 doesn’t really buy you very much these days – a bar of chocolate, half a bus journey, even a loaf of bread can cost more than £1. So Newlife must again be applauded for offering the bargain of the year. In addition to this, the money goes to support an amazing cause, Newlife is theUK’s leading children’s disability charity specialising in support to aid children affected by all disabilities.  In addition to funding equipment grants and research, the charity also offers support services operated by specially trained nurses and campaigns for a fairer deal for children to obtain the essential equipment and services they deserve.

The £1 promotion will be ongoing and is already proving to be a fantastic success, with customers grabbing loads of bargains whilst helping an amazing cause.
