Making Savings On Your Spring Purchases
We are firmly ensconced in February. Spring finally feels like it could be on its way, and stores have finally gotten rid of those fairly scruffy sales sections. This is great news if you like your shopping experience to be smooth – lots of shiny new rails, and less like a scrum or jumble sale. But if you love the thrill of a bargain and are still watching those pennies if you have run up major credit card bills at Christmas, this may limit your shopping. But, fear not, there are definitely still great savings to be made out there, and you could still be getting your purchases for less…

Get the High Street version of Key Designer looks
We can’t all afford to wear designer clothing. We may love the Victoria Beckham dress, but without Victoria Beckham’s clothing budget it’s not going to be appearing in our wardrobe any time soon. But, fear not, the trusty High Street seems to always come up trumps with some pretty impressive designer inspired pieces. These won’t break the bank, but will leave you looking a million dollars. River Island A/W 2011 – It’s all about Retro.
Thursday saw the River Island A/W press day, where they showcased the womenswear collections that will hit the stores for Autumn and Winter 2011/12. The six collections, ‘Savage’, ‘Sandy’,’London Girl’, ‘Gigi’, ‘Hustler’ and ‘Deadly’ all have a decidedly retro feel to them, think Faye Dunaway in ‘The Eyes of Laura Mars’ and you’ll get the picture. Here are my thoughts on each of the new collections. Savage This is a perfectly stylish daytime collection for even the coldest winter. Taking its inspiration from Native American Indian styling with blanket style knitwear in bold and bright colours to add drama to even the darkest day. Feathers and Furs make add to…

Chelsea Girl returns.
One of my overwhelming memories of being a very young girl was Saturday shopping with my mom in West Bromwich. I remember John Menzies had a great toy department, and that my mom loved a shop called ‘Lady at Lord John’, which just sounded such a cool name. But mainly I remember Chelsea Girl. Situated in the Queens Square, which also had the amazing floor to ceiling fountains, this shop was the most amazing place I had ever been to, still psychedelic looking, with a sign resembling a rainbow,it was a treasure trove to a little girl who already loved fashion. Flash forward to the 1980s, and groovy Chelsea girl, with its…

The Sales – a survival guide
It’s almost that time of year again. The one that gets you so excited that you can hardly sleep, thinking of all the goodies you are going to find. No, I’m not talking about Christmas, I’m talking about the SALES! The time of year when you find all manner of bargains at rock bottom prices, from dresses to designer bags, from boots to gift sets, from jumpers to the best shoes Selfridges can offer. I have always loved the post Christmas day sales. For many years I spent 27th December with my mom and sister, braving the Birmingham crowds in order to grab bagfuls of bargains. Favourite buys included Carvela…
