Christmas comes early to Sainsbury’s

With just over two months to go until Santa starts that journey from the North Pole, Lapland or wherever it is that he is living these days, a little bit of help with the Christmas list is just what parents ordered. So thank goodness for Sainsbury’s and their super Christmas comes early toy sale that is starting in stores today.

Toy Sale 2013Make no bones about it, this is a truly amazing toy sale with every single item in the toy aisle reduced. There are savings of 25%, one third off, and an amazing 50% off brands like Barbie, Moshi Monsters, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Nerf.  Toys for younger children including Fisher Price and Leapfrog are also included in the promotion, making this the perfect time to pick up a bulk of your Christmas toy shopping, whether you are buying for your own children, nieces or nephews, or the children of friends. You may even be in my situation and have the double whammy of a Christmas baby, making this a very expensive time of year, with any savings to be made most gratefully received.

nerfTom Folliot, buying manager for toys at Sainsbury’s, said of the promotion:“We know that Christmas can be an expensive time of year and budgets are stretched. We want to make it easier for our customers by giving them the opportunity to get hands on with some of this year’s must-have toys at great value. There is something for everyone – budding young bakers can kick start their career with the own brand Pretend & Play range whereas parents can feel nostalgic with the own brand wooden range. Kids can also enjoy the latest branded high-tech and character toys!

The Sainsbury’s toy sale starts today (23rd October) and will last until Tuesday 29th October. The promotion is only available in stores.

Tu launches new range in Sainsbury’s stores

I love the fact that supermarkets sell clothing. Apart from the easy convenience of picking up something when you are doing your food and home shop, I love the fact it seems like a guilt free purchase – just pop it in the trolley and pay for it with the rest of your shopping, hide it from your hubby amongst the loo rolls if need be!

Sainsbury’s has long since produced a great quality collection with ‘Tu’. The wardrobe basics and jeans have become almost wardrobe staples for many of us, and the Gok Wan collection is ever evolving and popular. And now, the brand  has been relaunched this month with a reinvigorated collection, full of fashion-forward pieces that truly live up to the motto ‘Live your Style’.

This new collection is more suggestive of high-end pieces than something you stick in a supermarket trolley. The beautiful oversized coat pictured above is just amazing – it would look equally as good worn over a little black dress as it would with the peg trousers and masculine style loafers.  A real wardrobe statement, I can see this being a total sell-out, a wardrobe classic you could wear for years to come.

And Tu is not just concerned with your wardrobe basics and everyday pieces. Slinky pencil skirts and stylish blouses, along with a great range of blazers make this a destination when you are on the hunt for great workwear. These are multifunctional too, the black pencil skirt is also a great option for an evening outfit, whilst many of the blouses and blazers can be styled with jeans and boots for weekend looks.

With a gorgeous range of accessories, including neat court shoes, pretty ballerina pumps and leather handbags that start from around £30, Tu is showing that quality and value can be synonymous. Tu is now definitely worth a visit, but, beware, there may not be enough room in your trolley for your grocery shop.

Sainsburys Christmas in July

Last Thursday, on a rather hot, stuffy day in London, I was strangely transported to a different time, a time we know and love as CHRISTMAS! Yes, the Christmas in July events were in full throttle, but due to actually try to enjoy summer I hadn’t been to any of them this year. But all this changed as I got that festive feeling – starting with a stunning event organised by Sainsburys.

Held in the totally beautiful surroundings of Il Bottaccio, Grovesnor Place, Sainsburys introduced us to a real Winter Wonderland, a showcase for everything seasonal, from party wear to gifts, food to flowers, beauty products to Prosecco. There was so much to look at it was a total feast for the eyes.

I headed straight for the fashion to check out some sneaky looks at what Gok Wan has in store for us. A beautiful burgundy lace dress dominated the proceedings – it screamed Middleton and is sure to be a massive hit when it is launched. Another hit was a leather tote bag that felt so soft, and yet will retail for a bargain £30 when it hits stores. I loved the fact that this tote actually zipped, making it security conscious too.

Jewel colours are a big fashion statement at Sainsburys, with deep purples and rich teal looking great, really rich and vibrant for dark days. Purple was a big colour on the catwalk for A/W 2012 so Sainsburys have cleverly tied into the catwalk trend. A cape sleeved tunic was beautiful, really dressy for the party season. There was also a Kate Bosworth feel to a couple of pieces, with a cute owl jumper that had been styled to be worn tucked into a tweed skirt – a very designer inspired look.

There were also some fabulous coats, a Burberry inspired trenchcoat from Gok Wan, dressy brocade style coats that would compliment evening wear perfectly. And men were not forgotten either, I loved the traditional Christmas inspired cardigans – always a must in my house for both hubby and son!

More Sainsburys fashion

The press day wasn’t all about great fashion. There was also a chance to try some of the fab products from the Mandara Spa range, which is a beautifully packaged, very affordable spa type brand that comes in a range of fragrances. I just adored theAmber Heaven collection, which is presented in a gorgeous Quality Street purple style packaging, and has a deep, sensuous scent containing elements of Patchouli and Sandlewood. The prices start at just £5, so this is a great value idea for Christmas presents.

With thanks to Sainburys PR and Monty Pr for the invitation.
