It gives me so much pleasure to type these words, Spring/Summer 2015 is the season when the 70s return. And, as a fan of all things Bowie, Kate Bush, Life on Mars and glam rock, these are words that just make me happy. To be fair though, the fashion that I’ve been lusting over is less about the flared jeans and Afghan coats, and more about the sumptuous prints, 70s style takes on tea and shirt dresses, and the gorgeous tea cloth, crochet and lace that makes this season one that is worth indulging in.
M&S are taking their cues from the catwalk and the celebrities by creating a very stylish and wearable collection of 70s style apparel. Forget Olive from On the Buses and the group ‘Sweet’, and think instead more of Cybil Shepherd in Taxi driver, Angelica Huston and Lauren Hutton, the cast of Shampoo and that ever classic, The Eyes of Laura Mars’. There are dresses and skirts that you will be able to wear now, and pieces that will be just perfect when you start to pack for your summer holiday.
Once derided as the decade that style forgot, the 70s creativity, as exemplified by Bill Gibb and Zandra Rhodes, is now getting the plaudits it so rightfully deserves.

Gosh! Olivia Palermo looks lovely.
I was saying to my mum the other day how M&S have really upped their style this coming season – I would actually shop there. That coral summer dress is lush.
Not to mention the Angular Block Heel Striped Court Shoe is to die for! Thanks so much for sharing hunny

These look a lot nicer than the stuff I remember from the 70’s – wall to wall denim, home perms, white stilettos and plastic jewellery! What DID we look like!

Love M&S at the moment. Especially the Indigo and Limited Collection – some very 70s inspired items there as well x

As much as I love 70’s fashion, I really don’t think it’s gonna suit me! I may give it a try though. Just to say I have! LOL
