The Carrie Diaries – It’s nearly time for the new Carrie

The trailer for the series has been previewed, and January 14th will see ‘The Carrie Diaries’ previewing on US television. This much-anticipated series, telling of the teen years of Carrie Bradshaw, stars Annasophia Robb as the teenage heroine, and also stars British actress, the fabulous Frema Agyeman as an ultra glamorous fashion editor, Larissa, responsible to introducing Carrie to High Fashion.

I must admit to loving the new trailer, with its Adam and the Ants theme tune, and with an appearance from the gorgeous Adam himself. There is a really frothy feel to this, sort of Clueless with little elements of Sex and the City peeping through. It all looks so bright and bubbly and fresh, although possibly a bit young for those who remember Sex and the City from the beginning, and have moved onto Lena Dunham and ‘Girls’ in the interim period. The clothes, however, look great – 1980s styles as we now re-imagine them.

As a huge Sex in the City fan, I’m really hoping that this series isn’t a huge disappointment, or a flop. It really is lovely to have Carrie back, even if she seems to have grown a little younger…
