The Platinum Jubilee – A Photo Story
This May Bank Holiday has been like no other as we have been celebrating the unprecedented event of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. It’s an event never seen before in the British Isles, as our Queen celebrates 70 years on the throne.
Whether you have just enjoyed a couple of days off work due to the extra bank holiday, or if you have thrown yourself into the celebrations by taking a trip to London, enjoying an afternoon tea, being involved in a street party, watching the lighting of a Jubilee beacon, or wearing red, white and blue, the Jubilee is something we will never see again in our lifetime. I for one have embraced it whole heartedly, having been a fan of the royal family since I was a little girl patiently waiting to see the Queen go by at her Silver Jubilee in 1977, and then becoming obsessed with Princess Diana to the extent of having her hair cut in 1981.
The images below are some that I have snapped over the last few weeks, of shop windows, book and magazine covers, street and store decorations and art work, both professional and pieces produced by children. There are also a few images fro a small exhibition taking place at the Wolverhampton Art Gallery at the moment which features memorabilia from previous royal occasions.
