These Are A Few Of My (Current) Favourite Things
The World is not a happy place right now. We are moving into another National Lockdown of which we can see no end in sight. 2020 has been a year that non of us wish to repeat, but 2021 could be even worse, and we are now heading into Winter, and hoping that it will be mild, and that we will not face the terrible weather and conditions that the Beast From The East bought with it in 2018. More than ever in my living memory we need to think about those things that raise the mood and the spirits. If Julie Andrew’s was to sing ‘These are a few of my favourite things’ it wouldn’t be to try to chase away the fear of a thunderstorm – she’d be singing it every single day to simply chase away the day itself.
Your favourite things can help to raise your spirits, lift your mood, make you feel happier. Even if it is things that you can’t do at present, something that you can look forward to will instantly give you a positive focus.
Here are a few things I look forward to.
Burgers and Cajun Fries At Five Guys
Without a doubt, our favourite burger place is Five Guys Daphne. Nobody does a better, more creamy Vanilla Milkshake, it is like the nicest melted ice cream you could ever taste. My son swears by the beef dogs, I love the cheese veggie sandwich, and we all like the fact that the burgers can be completely customised to your taste by adding a number of extra toppings. I also love the fact that when you order the delicious cajun fries, your food bag is literally overflowing with them, not like a certain fast food chain where you can almost count your chips.
Five Guys has a great atmosphere in its restaurants, I love the newspaper reviews and fan recommendations that are on the walls, as well as the clean and fresh red and white tiles that make it bright and welcoming. We love the branch at Resorts World, and will definitely be heading there for some Christmas shopping once lockdown is over.
Lou Lou’s Vintage Fayre
Last month I went to a vintage fayre run by Lou Lou’s that was held in Birmingham’s Custard Factory in the Digbeth area of the city. It was a lot of fun rummaging through beautiful vintage bargains and IÂ came home laden down with my finds. If you love vintage fayres, the good news is that you can enjoy virtual fayres on both Facebook and Instagram at the end of every month, so you may still be able to grab a beautiful vintage bargain and have it delivered directly to your door.
Trips to the Cinema
I love a visit to the Cinema, it is definitely one of my favourite things to do. In the last week alone I have been to see Rebecca, Onward, and a Halloween showing of Hocus Pocus. I have a list of films I want to see in the upcoming months including the new version of ‘Death on the Nile’ and ‘No Time To Die’ the latest Bond movie. Looking forward to a time when we can see these new releases is another thing that can make me feel like I am making plans and is therefore a positive step.
